In the hands of an acquaintance from adolescence (or more accurately, on his improvised drop hammer rig), pure samples of nitroglycerin and pentolite were about equal in their sensitivity to shock. (RDX, although it has excellent brisance, was less sensitive to impact.) The two can be ( ... very! ... carefully! ... ) compounded into a paste that he found superior: the paste had no density issues (like dry pentolite) and had a balanced fuel:oxygen ratio. It was much easier to handle than either pure or gelled nitroesters.
Nitroglycerin has a peculiarity. If you use an underpowered blasting cap, you can induce a lower-order detonation that wastes much of the material's brisance. Dynamite didn't have this property to the same degree. cn

"the specific shocking capacity of a high explosive". Brisance was measured by the size cavity a weighed standard portion of explosive X blew into an oversized block of lead. cn

Agreed regarding the past, and re: brisance - I agree completely with you on that, if the cap is under-powered, the squib charge would ultimately fail to take the nitroglycerin high explosive... which no matter how you look at it, would kill the brisance factor. I think that's why nitro charges are usually used with multi-cap .. it just makes sense from a circuit standpoint to ensure that there is no chance of fail (relatively)

I heard the word Nitro...

I love the smell of nitro racing fuel, I think I will go out to the shop and open up a jug and take a big whiff....

so i saw this video and was wondering if all the things mentioned in this video are really true and cause for concern in my country? all the increase in crime and home invasions after the ban? i as an american am very concerned about my second amendment right to bear arms. im in fear that if gun control laws and bans continue to escalate i will continue to lose more and more of my freedom not to mention also risk me and my families safety. so i ask what are your thoughts and opinions preferably from Aussies if possible.

Bro that's a fake, looks like a bunch of video clips from the 80's that have been cut together, most out of context. Not sure where it came from but it's BS, the stats are BS too.

Bob Perry "the concerned gun owner" is an actor, and the bloke claiming to be a "collector" is full of shit because the buy-back in '94 didn't extend to collectors, they can obtain a permit as a collector of a prohibited weapon.

Don't stress, even if they come for an-unregistered gun they don't know you have, who in their right mind would actually give it up? - "No Sir, no weapons to declare"...

I never heard of mixing nitro with gas , I always mix it with methanol...I mix it to about 95-98% nitro to 2-5% methanol for racing....Nitro might be up to 35-40 dollars per gallon...Very addictive once you pour it into an engine...It's like liquid dynamite ....It gets my heart rate up just talking about it.....

only a few nuts and peoples moms are actually stupid enough to believe in "gun control", its just political propaganda, every time the discussion is brought up on the internet we find very few people are indoctrinated by it, there is maybe only 1 or 2 people on here that believe in it.

My countrymen bought it...don't underestimate the pure stupidity of the general population.

Here a shotgun can legally only have space for 3 rounds (well, 3+1), all handguns are banned and all military LOOKING firearms are banned.

At least there's a glimmer of hope, given that you still have shotguns.. 3+1 is better than 0, should it be required.. but still not optimal for those who wish to have more than a limited amount of rounds, and at the 'limit' set by the government/governing body, agreed on all counts.

If you find a pregnant one, it'll have a litter of Makarovs down there, and then they'll get into the walls ... cn

What I'm about to say is purely hypothetical, and in no way should infer that I have this setup at all.. but -if- I were to have a shotgun, and -if- I wanted defense rounds for CQB/CQC.. I would definitely have a Benelli M4 loaded w/12 gauge flechettes. Laser sharpened steel darts tend to turn people into pincushions and rip gaping holes in critical mass.. and can stop a group of gang members rushing a door with 1 round, maybe 2... the only issue is the ability to over-penetrate, and you wouldn't want to explain to law enforcement in most countries why you have shells that are not 'legal' per their definition of shotgun shell either.. catch-22. At the end of the day though, I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6. No tolerence, no mercy. Best summarized with a photo:

Best bet with our limitations is to load two buck then two bird, means you've two "safe" shots (low penetration, safer for upstairs) then two "oh you decided to stay" shots.

Do you guys custom load shells, or are you not allowed to? And sounds like a safe choice/option given your selections

I think you can get a license to do it, but I wouldn't jump through the hoops.

We've no slugs or anything sexy :(

They claim it's because we've a history of "subversive groups", but that's just a ball of shite.

Subversive groups? I'd like to see more than 1 example of that in the last 30 years.. and I don't count the semi-small riot in Sydney. (I will assume you're Aussie unless otherwise corrected)
