I am not planning winning anything from this contest for several reasons the first being my plant wasn't anything special, the second being I smoked it before I took any dried pics of it. That being said I don't care who wins, but I know which plant I'm voting for.

dude...I have never seen it before either! But it happened. You may want to change your search criteria a bit as I was just giving a quick example. I found a bunch on this site when I was first accused of cheating. Let me know if you don't find them and I will get some references. Your point on roots growing out the bottom is because that is the only exit point needed in a larger container...common sense. On a solo cup with no holes in the bottom, where do the roots have to go to? Up eventually. That's the only explanation I have.

Dank had 3 plants come out of one seed, why can't roots grow out of containers?

if they grew out of the cup why is dirt attached to them when mine grew out the bottom of the cup it was white seeing how the new growth would have never touched dirt pretty cool story though bro

i was just along for the ride so to speak from the start i said i probably wouldnt actually enter anything seeing how i was going to be a judge

I have roots on top of my soil, not growing out of the pot (smart pot compared to solo cup so no comparison) but still the rots on top turn green and adapt to the light and the lack of soil. I'm saying anything can happen to be honest.

the only time it mattered if you had a pic of the cup in hand was when all this first started
i asked for a simple pic and you copped a attitude and said no you were going to wait until the end
you keep saying the top is attached by string thats cool bro but it would not stop you from picking it up and snapping a pic
it wasnt to see if the roots were growing out of the cup it was to clarify that they were not growing into another medium
thats it maybe instead of getting butt hurt you should go back and read what you posted

If you were to discuss the issue of pics at the end, I had pre-requested it from ak some time back. I'm sorry if you thought I coped an attitude. Your involvement on my grow, as I remember, was sort of negative where you asked to see proof (which was not necessary at that time, as I had just made a simple comment) of roots out of the cup or something like that. You also never "like"ed my post's, which is ok too...I guess. I'm out of the contest, so it's definantely a mood point for me too! At this point, I have been called to be either a liar or cheater....no other options? WTF man...look at all my grows!

i have a lot of stuff going on as well my mom is on her 9th chemo treatment and i am not on because of this and other issue's

i have some cheeseberry autos, flash seeds kush van stitch and bio diesel mass all currently day 14 flower, under a 600w air cooled dual spec lamp. I must say they all look pretty good. im more of a photo period man but thought i would do an auto run. i will post piks in this thread closer to harves might even post some tmoz.

She is from buddha seeds so she could be a red or white dwarf? Deimos or syrup. Those were the strains listed.

hey guys, i have been doing a little bit more searching on this fact..as of right now, i am not calling anyone a cheater, i am simply running a fair contest. after this shit being brought up again and again via here and my pm inbox, re-looking at those pics, i find roots growing out of a container like this very odd, its not to say you did cheat cause if you did, i hope you would be smart enough to cut the god damn things off so no one would notice so it is very easily be that it did grow like this however, i have never seen it grow this way, i have also seen very large plants in solo cups that have never had t his problem, again not saying its not possible but this does strike me, a decade long grower, as odd....i am going to be re-investigating this situation just to figure out whats really going on here, and one way or another, i will. if you choose to leave this contest, that is up to you, i cannot stop you either way, i encourage no one to quit becasue they feel they are being bullied into it. people here are skeptic by nature and this sort of thing is....well...weird to say the least, roots grown ''up'' like that? definitley possible, roots like that with literal dirt on them like shown in the one pic....not possible as it would have never been removed from the dirt, the plant simply is not strong enough to do that. either way, i hope everyone is doing good and just so you ALL know now....I AM WATCHING...closely...and closer.

for WATTSAVER: your pics are good however, the bottom of your solo cup looks squared to me, it doesnt help the fact that during the contest the cup has been covered up with several things, this is not a problem and i understand why it happens however, im going to need a picture UP CLOSE of your solo cup. the reason i say this is because it looks square to me, they do not make solo cup squared bottoms unless they are 18oz not 16oz and therefore, to big for this contest. if you could just show me an upclose pic or even something showing me its 16oz, that would be great, here or a PM would be fine. just need to verify brother, you did a great job and you could have very easily made a mistake because i have compared 18 and 16oz sizes and they are very similar only different being, the square bottom, so get back to me on that buddy


this is a note for ALL not one person: with all the nonsense going on here now ive been forced to look very close, and i will be, so i hope no one cheated, because i dont want to have to call you out, im not like that...i hope to trust everyone on a small contest like this but i DO know mistakes will be made, but either way, i need to be fair to everyone who tried very hard to compete and follow the rules, there were NOT alot of rules so, it wasnt rocket science...

there is no point, when i stated the highesty yield prize i clearly stated that it must be BUDS only, no sticks/stems roots or any of that shit and certainly not wet, whatever reason he weighed it wet for was his own perrogative, im unsure why it was done but as sunni said, we will take a look at all the entries very soon

hello everyone, how are we doing? I hope everyone is having a good week and has a great thanksgiving! to be honest thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday so im excited and happy to be getting together and spending time with family. not to mention football, being lazy and eating until you cant move. but enough about that nonsense let me get to the point of my post

As I stated in one of my earlier posts, the solo cup autoflower contest is officially over for this year. I hope everyone had alot of fun and enjoyed being in the contest as much as I enjoyed running it. Other than a few unforseen bumps in the road I think the contest ran very smoothly and am happy the way it turned out. I hope we can do it again in the future and as time goes on not only will we get more particpants that are interested in joining but maybe next time we could even have different types of contests or different categories. I want to remind everyone that was in the contest and has yet to post any pictures or anythign like that....Now is the time to do so....Im going to allow anyone who forgot or was behind to finish up and get there stuff posted so we can all see it, I assume everyone has though but I just want to be sure so no one is excluded...

Within the next week or two im going to set up either a poll right on the threads or set a way for all RIU members to vote for their favorite entries...When I do this I will let everyone know via this thread and other ones that it is up and ready to be voted upon....Me and the other judges will also be getting together in the next few days/weeks to look through all of the entries and decide who the winners are of all the categories...When we do decide the winners they will be posted in this thread as well as probably a new thread that will be stickied by me so everyone can see/know who won....After this happens I will either personally message them and tell them what needs to be done in order for them to receive prizes or will announce it so all the winners can see. I think all of this will probably happen over the next couple weeks so we should be sending out the prizes for the winners before the holiday season ( before christmas) but of course, there is no set date, and with the holiday season being as busy as it is for the mail, small delays could occur...regardless of all that I will be in contact with the winners the entire time and hopefully we can getthis wrapped up before the start of the new year.

I think that is all for now....As I stated before, I will let everyone know in the coming days on how to vote for their favorite entries and as soon as me and the other judges pick the winners for the other categories it will be announced. how big is that pot bud? I want to start a few AF in one pot from start to finish and need advice on pot size!

hi dubie and newbie....welcome to rollitup, we hope you feel at home here. as for your pics, great job, that girl is looking good, pretty big for an autoflower as well ...you said 7 weeks old, have you switched the lighting down to 18 and 6 or 20 and 4 yet? if shes an autoflower she should really start flowering very soon, alot of autoflowers are done withing 8-10 weeks, but all strains are different.


as for newbie...again welcome, for pot sizes there are a couple different ways you can go. no matter what though, I always like to use this logic when deciding how big my medium will be for roots...In order for a plant to be happy, high yielding, strong and dank, roots need to be thorough and have just as good of an environment or better than the actual plant itself...it doesnt matter if you have great growing conditions in your tent if you have a bad medium or a place where roots cannot spread and thrive...I personally ALWAYS go for at least 5 gallon buckets for my roots...but if you have a small area and a small light you obviously dont need as big of a root system. If its your first time, I would personlly say go with 1 gallon to 3 gallon pot for dirt...you could even use a milk just, cut a hole in the top of it and either paint the outside black or cover it up with something so no light is getting inside the pot or by the roots...either way, best of luck to both of you, if you have questions, feel free to post here and im sure someone will be more than happy to give you a hand or some advice, if not always feel free to personally send me a private message (PM) and I will get back to you as soon as im able to....good luck gentlemen.
