Either mine is stunted because I left in the jiffy too long or it is shocked from the hot soil or or or(now this is what I am hoping) the roots are growing like mad into the soil ready to go boom and explode. It is growing a little and no signs of burn or deficiencies so I am hoping she will take off. Either that I will win a prize for the most comical bud. heh Pics to come tonight.
on your jiffy plug do you cut the net off ,i;m asking because i had problems with the net keeping the roots inside the plug some got out but alot stayed in the actual jiffy, this is why i use riot cubes or if have jiffy cut the net off, also when you soak if they suck up alot of water the soil inside the net can become compact just what i noticed do you cut net or leave it on???

I'm only asking here,, not trying to be antagonistic,, just trying to understand things w/ AF's a bit.

"110 days" - that's 15 / 16 weeks. Comparing that to a hybred photoperiod,,, 4 wks veg and into flower I would think could be more productive. But more importantly,, bigger varieties on a more stable strain. Why? (just asking)

On Short Stuff in general,, Seems a lot of folks have problems with their seeds. Sometimes they need to go 12/12 to get flower to start. Sometimes the seeds are nothing like they're described is another I'm seeing here (on RIU generally).
If they need light changing (times) why are they considered "auto"?

I've considered it may be growing technique, growing conditions, and / or skill level. But it could be their seeds???

For me,, the biggest plus on growing autos would be everything in 20 / 4 or 18 / 6 from beginning to end. Would make for a very easy way to grow perpetual.
Biggest deterent for me at the time was finding "regular" autos for seed stock on something I find I'd really like (medically). Then there's the throw-back / pheno thing.

I'm sure many of you have seen this too with autos, either your's or other's.
Do any of you actually have this down to a science / reliable method? If so, I'd really like to hear your thoughts / ideas,,, or how you're doing it.

It's so hard to seperate "operator error" from facts at times. That's why I'm asking.
it was the only auto i had left all the others i have are photo period, i know what your saying its a long time an your right i could get topp44 an have it ready in 8-9 weeks start to finnish depending on how long i veg , touch wood i have not had any probs with short stuff auto's they seem to have grown ok an yeilded an o each which is what i expected,my light schedule i switch between 20/4 an 18/6 do know why i just do it,i might have it do 20/4 for a few weeks then swap other to 18/6 i also change coloured bulbs like i start with a PURple bio tropic 25,000k then switch to a blue 6500k then to a red 2700k an jus randomly swap them out as they all run off the 200w ballast, its just experimenting see what the plants do how they react ect ,

Mine was about the same size at 7 days and she is growing good now. Looking good man.

The plugs I use are very ,hmmm biodegradable(?), they fall apart and do not last very long if I do not plant them. And all you need is one of the little tiny roots to escape and then it grows into the main root almost like the trunk above ground. I checked it last night and 2 nodes have grown since I last looked close so she is doing well. She is looking very healthy and has come alive. heh

@nothingtodeclare- Did you see any noticeable improvement with the lighting/schedule switches? You should run an experiment with controls. I wish I could, not enough room though. Also, Jiffy plugs shouldn't hold the roots back. They're supposed to be biodegradable. I've used one every time, kind of as an alternate to the paper towel.

It got it all. No holds barred.
Funny, it came up fast (1 1/2 inch) then just sat there for 2-3 weeks and then rocketed. I thought it was a late bloomer,, but done in 11 weeks if I remember right.

Interesting lighting. Never heard of a purple tropic.

I have had a lot of questions reguarding the MI 5 taking up to three months, so I feel that it is ok to share the info here, of not my bad.

The two pheno's of the MI 5 I have are here, they are the same age, pic two is finished and the plant in pic one is going for round two and will put on a lot more weight.
DSC01690.jpgDSC01689.jpg

Pic two the bud is solid and no new pistils, while pic one is still spongy and busting new pistils all over.

Why? I have no clue, I can only report my findings.

Here she is, I may have dilluted the super soil too much anjd may need to give her some N. Other than that she is growing good and I have not touched her yet. hehApril 17 2011 002.jpg

Top row left to right AK48 Gage Green Mix and then Chocolope waiting on a spot in the flower tent. Ildiavolo is the little one.

well guys... my taiga has yellowed a bit... i am now stuck with the descicion to flush again or add some nitrogen to the mx... thisis my first run with miracle grow moisture control soil... as much as it is supposed to control moisture, it sure as hell seems to hold it for awhile... another reason i am sorta wanting to hold back on watering/feeding... i guess a small amount should be okay... i will prolly do that tonight i think... what are your guys opinions on the situation?
