For the visual experience, I really enjoyed it. That alone made it worth the ticket price IMO. The plot ideas and the characters felt like dumbed down cliches. The writing seemed to be geared toward young teens, or anyone who doesn't want to think too much at a movie (just wants to be thrilled by the flashy images and lots of action). (No offense meant to those who thought it was great, just my opinion).
As it was ending, I was thinking about how oversimplified and predictable the writing was... then the audience started cheering when the credits started. I can't remember the last time I saw that happen at a movie. I guess they did something right, and the huge investment will pay off.
