Back to a Grow Room - 4 x 600, 1 x 1000

when i started smoking in the early 70s it was mostly haze available as far as real weed goes, to this day it sets the bar for what i call a good tasting weed lol. i do however enjoy the og n once n a while the grape taste of the purple strains. guess its kinda like music, whatever your era was is how you rate it. guess that kinda ages me :)

Right - that's what I was sayin' about the Madi - it just has that iconic 'weed' look to me... I'm a child of the sixties - so I can relate!

Yo Friends!

I'm workin' on a new project for a local concern, that I want to have rolling by Oct 15. It will be an 8 x 600 watter. The ceilings are kind of low so I'm going to run more 600's rather than use 1000's. I will use six 4x4 trays. 3 trays on each side of the room, with 4 Magnum XXXL's (the new redesigned tighter ones) above. I'll use 2 x 8" Vortex for exhausting the lights. As we move into the cool season, I'm going to work without AC or CO2. Two 8" fans for exhaust, two 8" fans for intake - will exchange the air in this zone in less than a minute - I think that will suffice. If not, I will add another pair of 8" intake/exhaust fans. All intakes will have DustShrooms. All exhausts will have dampers on the exits. 10" square 3 gallon pots will be planted at the density of 9 per 4x4. We'll go RootsO and top feed by hand. This will be a simple, but clean, efficient, and effective zone.

I will eventually start a new journal for this project, but for now it's just a teaser. I have the trays and the pots and most of the media. I will scour the internet for good deals and used items as available. I will purchase the lighting system new.

Fun shit! I look forward to helping this group of patients produce their own quality medication.

LR 4 of the magnums will give perfect coverage for the 3- 4x4s. can even give a tad of space between them too. i was just measuring n planning a simular set up. the 2 8in will vent them fine, no need to worry about that. my single 6" vortex keeps the duel 600s in my 4x4 tent in the sweet zone, course the lights are on 8pm to 8am. nine plants imo is the perfewct usage of said space, n the crosslighting from 4 directions even if only 600s should produce some dinamic results. this should be a fine set up. what is the heighth limit? for sure post a link i want to follow this very close as its so simular. they are lucky to have a master at the helm, hope they realize it...

Cool - you're workin' on a similar setup? Sweet! The ceilings are just under 7 1/2 feet - so no serious height concern, but I think 6's make more sense. I'm looking at approx 52" from the top of the pots to the bottom of the lights. The aisle will be pretty tight, so there will be quite a bit of cross lighting across the aisle too, as well as side by side. I've had success in a similarly shaped room with the same tray/light setup. Yeah - I think the dual 8" fans will be good to go for the lights, thanks for the reports on your cooling for comparison. Thanks for the kind words too - I'll do my best!

LR just wondering how the project is going, hope all is well...

Yo 4T! The project is going. We had a little delay as we had to put a new main in. The new main panel is in and we have 240 to the room. I'm now on schedule to complete the room this weekend. The first material will be in next week!

Here is a general layout of the room. I didn't include dimensions but you can get a general idea of the size. Those are 4x4 trays in the drawing - they measure just under 54" square.

LR thats sweet, nothing like starting with a clean slate and a new electrical system that you dont have to wonder about. electrical isnt all that complicated if you break it down pc x pc. a sub panell like that with a dedicated 220 feed is really the only way to go, great job. might have been a hang up but will prove invaluable in the long run.
love the powerbox too, cuts way down on ballast n only need one spare. big score there imo. looks like youve got it all but ready, cant wait to see some pics of it all in use. the room where the light intake y is, is that a utility area or is it big enough for moms n clones? looks too small for mnc to me, but a great utility area. great entry with the light trap too, nice work bro!!!

Hello All

Wow! I've been so busy, I can't believe how time flies... I'm at day 33 in my zone and have not had a chance to post one pic. The new room is really close, but not running just yet. There were several hurdles to overcome but the final result is quite nice. I will be running a new controller in the new room that I am really excited about. If it works as expected you guys will all want one! I have been taking pics along the way, so I will try to get some shots up over the weekend. I'll start off with a few of the new turn. In following posts I will include the progress on the new room and the current flip at Day 33.

I had some better starts to begin this time; no PM or mites but they still needed some love upon arrival. Here's a shot of the nursery I made my selections from.

We'll go this turn with 30 OG, and 8 Madagascar. This is the same count as the last round. I think this is the sweet spot for this room.

I let em do some work in Solo cups for a bit. I use just the center MH lights to start.

I veg'd for 3 days in Solo cups before transplanting with the lights on round the clock. I went to 18/6 when I transplanted at Day 4. I flipped to 12/12 three days later for a 1 week veg cycle.

I was sure to set all 3 layers of trellis this time, securing all with a drywall screws (again, don't trust the adhesive on the zip tie wall mounts!).

I spoke too soon about the mites! I did have to remove one OG with mites. You can see the last minute replacement OG in the Solo cup in the photo above.

Day 2 Flower. Three layers of trellis keep your Pornstars supported nicely. The Madi get moved to the floor in larger pots, with wheeled saucers.
