Now lets see the little cheese. All the light conditions and changes are the same as the pineapple . So it is on day 28 and the height is 20cm.

It looks healthier than the pineapple to me and it also has the cool daylight cfl on it because its not flowering yet!

Any comments are appreciated !!

thnx

So.. day 38 for the pineapple .. She looks more healthier and the color is more like the "pineapple" plant def after 6 days on the cfl closet.
Its now 26cm -3cm taller in 4 days!!

She looks fine but the some of the baby leaves looks a little "curly"..
I gave her a feed of alg-a-mic today to enhance ca and mg.

Take a look guys and give some feedback what could be the problem with that !!

Little Cheese now.. Day 31 and height is about 23cm. Getting taller and looks fine. Still no flowering but hope this will change in the next couple of days!! Gave her a feed of bio-grow 2 days ago and she looks like se liked that a lot!!

I gave up the balcony idea because the 20/4 looks its going well and the girls really love it! With humidity 40-50% and temperature 30-35degrees that looks ok for were i live that temperatures are always over 32c and humidity over 60%!

very interesting grow journal, i'll be tuning into this.
i recently purchased 3 barney's farm pineapple express seeds along with 1 low life low ryder #2 auto seed and 5 red cherry berry normal feminized seeds... i plan on growing the 3 PE and LR seed within the next few weeks since i just finished another grow. I am looking forward to seeing your end result from growing them in soil so that I can compare it to mine when I am done... basically i just want to know how much of a difference using canna coco will make.

Ok , i am a little late but i was out of time these days!

My setup is updated a lot. I now have more than 15.500lumens on these girls. The heat is definitely a big problem. I am trying to get the temperatures down from 34c ( 93f) while the last few days was 40C (105F) !!! I am giving the closet a lot of fresh air but the temperature outside is always over 90f even at night so that cant help a lot :cuss:

The heat stress is visible on the leaves but now i have a blower with carbon filter that i am going to install just after posting here !!
i also have 2 fans blowing on the plants so the new leaves looks much better.

Pinnaple is now on day 45.. I made a mistake with nutrients i added 2ml top max along with grow and bloom and she didn't liked that a lot. I got a nutrient burn on one leaf 3 days ago so i gave her pure water the next day and now seems its ok no signs on other leaves. I will feed her again after letting the soil completely dry with smaller amounts

Height is now 33cm!! 6cm taller in one week ! smell is still not much but i hope this will change the following days with the temp down and good ventilation!

Take a look and give some feedback if u like!

Little cheese now on day 38. Height 33 cm but new leaves are coming all the way on the sides. She sawed the first signs of flowering 3 days ago and the nice purple colour on the body looks awesome!

The signs of heat stress are visible to her also but not as much as in the pineapple ! I gave her 3ml bio grow and 2ml bio bloom for the first time and she liked that so i will continue on these doses.

OK ... after a day with the carbon filter and the remake of the grow place i have temperatures reaching 32c(90f) never over that but i think is the best i can do because this is the outside temperature so only with the use of ac shooting on the input fans can lower temperature to 28c but thats not possible all the time!
Lets hope the heat stress will go away!
Also humidity levels are about 32-41% percent

Total light 15.532lumens for 0.3sq meter is enough (i think so!!!)

Some pics of the upgraded setup and one of the pineapple top :leaf:

Hey aris that is looking spot on. Thats a good fan u got yourself there mate. At least those plants have a chance now pineapple looking better. shame you cant get them temps down as i had temps round that mark on my first grow did not yield much slow growth this time i got my temps down to 26, its gonna yield loads more ,think that might be the only prob you got now over 30 c the plant puts alot of energy into transpiring to cool down rather than grow. good luck bro

Yeah thats true about the temp... I tried something else yesterday, i shot the closet with the a/c for about 20minutes and got a temperature of 27c. Then i closed the door with a nylon inside so there is no airflow other than the fans and having the blower in lowe speed kept the temp below 30c for 2+ hours! Temps are cooling down now here so i hope that next week i will have a 28-29max in the last weeks that will help budding!

I am growing a pineapple express as well.......your temps are pretty warm - ideally you wanna get them at 70f-74f and RH at 40-60%. This could possibly cause your plant to hermie because of all the stress. just my 2 cents.....and the cfls in some of the pics looks like it helped contribute to burning your plant...and your nutrient mishap......shit happens....but best advise if get your grow room dialed in next time better. Best of luck!

Looking good, Cfl's can heat a room up more than most people think, I find the 42w are a good balance. I use four or six 18w or 23w daylight (6500) and one 42w (2700) in veg, with no heat problems. Flowering gets a little hotter, one 23w or 18w (6500) and four or six 42w (2700), so basically same set up just swap the bulbs out. A fan blowing a/c from outside though can help alot, I've even cracked the door with one fan inside at crack and a big boxfan 5feet away blowin a/c into crack, lol (Laughing at how many times I said crack) I'm digging the autoflower though cant wait to see what you yield. Good luck with everything.

Thnx for stopping by widow!! today the pineapple looks like it is getting more and more pistils, the top is looking amazing and i am too happy for that also lots of new stem looking ready to flower!
Little cheese is getting larger and larger leaves and i am starting to worry about the light on lower levels

Temperature is too hard to go lower here because i have to use the a/c all the day and then my electricity bill will flyyyyyyy up!!
I keep the cfl's as close as 2inc all the time to give light everywere but i open the grow room every 10hours and leaves are getting closer and closer so i have to lift the lamps up to avoid such things. And for sure i will have to build a "real" grow room next time because at this grow i was forced to do it because of bugs attacks on the balcony!!

Hi johnp and thnx for the feedback! I have 1 x23watt 6400k , 4x20watt 2700k and 4x32watt 2700k . The heat of the cfl isnt a problem to me because of the good ventilation i have and the difference between out and in the grow room is max 1c up!
I will try to keep the temps low with the a/c as long as i can and we'll see!
I hope that i will get a satisfactory yield for a first grow even though lots of problems showed up till now (change of grow style from outdoor to indoor, bugs, temps, not enough light, nute burn for the pineapple).
Stay tuned and we will all know in about 40days :weed:

To be honest for me its strange to understand the hole thing with the heat stress.. Were i live if you put a normal seed (not skunk or any other "good" strain) outdoors you will have all the time over32c( 90f) , for over 3-4 months and humidity levels over 60% all the time especially during night can go up to 90%! and this will go as high as 3meters(10ft) and give you a yield that can reach a kilo!!
I will though try to lower it and hope that my autos will have to work only with the buds and nothing more!

1st pic is from Pineapple , 2nd from Little Cheese

I forget Aris how long did you veg these plants? When I CFL'd previously I had a total of about 33,000 lumens (four 4 foot CFL's specifically for plants, 4 two foot CFL same intent and a couple of 100w equivalent bulbs for three plants in 2.5 gallon containers) so there was a different response certainly but my WW were usually 2 foot tall some 2.5 after a 7 to 8 week veg. One thing I like about your plants though tight nodal structure mmmm sexy. I have PE and Buddha Cheese going now in my first hydro set up - very humbling. I have six inch high plants and I cracked seeds first week of Aug sooo embarrassing. Will veg to mid Sept and then flower.
One thing I did do to help lower temps was to instal a four inch fan from an older PC drawing up from the ground about three inches off the ground level and of course venting out at the top into the garage. A nice cool watering not cold (shock) can help too.

If i used ur lights set up i would get a massive yield for 2 autos :-P
haha

This pineapple is auto flower so veg time was exact 3 week. Thats when the first pistils appeared!
Little cheese though start flowering a few days ago in week 4+

About the air system u described , I also added 2 pc fans (one is a silent big one from my dead PSU ) . Now i have one blowing from down to up between the plants, 2 blowing sideways at the top of the plants where the cfl's are and also 2 others for income plus the ventilation system.
Temp now that is night is something lower from 30c and humidity 38%.

Good luck with ur grow ,pineapple and Buddha cheese are great strains with amazing flavor! but i have to admit i am a big fan of the Big Buddha Cheese i smoked on grey area last month! :leaf:

Well after the bullshit i did with the nutes and got one leaf burned i watered with water but after 2 days i got some other nute signs also on some leaves. So i decided to almost flush her and gave her 5litres of pure water let her flush as water as possible of the pot so after 36hours she looks great!
The strange think is that despite the nute shit its still growing like hell!! pineapple is now on day 48. Height is now 38cm and its amazing that she is 5cm taller in less than 4 days!

Take a look

Little cheese now day41 and height still the same 33 but lots of side leaves going flat and thick... i am pulling these big leaves on the sideways so that the little ones can get more light. But i think this will be a serious issue because its looking like tropical mini-tree lol

I will feed her today a little grow and bloom mix . I checked the soil a little bit today just to check for moisture and realised that there are small roots everywhere down there!! that maybe can explain the reason she was a little late on entering flowering!

She looks a little stress on the new leaves but i believe she will survive :p

my temps are stable to 30c at all time so i decided to give the dark period during night for 4-5 hours outside of the closet that temps are now 25c and hope this will help

Depending on what day you are on you should top your plant as soon as possible....It is so worth it, it changes the main cola and splits it into two large ones (double the bud sites). I did this as the results are fantastic!!!!!
