pH meters are useful even in soil, sorry. Hopefully she pulls through.Being cheap I wanted to make my own Calcium+Magnesium supplement.
I started by dissolving egg shells in vinegar and when no more egg shells would dissolve I thought all the acetic acid was used up - but it seems I was wrong. This is one day after application.

They should recover with ne growth this earlyI bought a cheap ph meter from Home Depot
My dead plants have a ph between 5 and 5.5.
I guess that did them in
Sadly it was the pH that killed them not the Ca. So sorry that hurts.
That was a generous and kind thing to do. It's also impressive. So few people are comfortable with openly sharing their mistakes, good job.Oh well - it was a learning experience.
Sharing so that others see what can happen.

Looks like perlite to me. Are you using perlite?I watered the plants with the calcium solution.
I ripped out the dead plants and among the roots I saw hard white formations that crumble when squeezed.
Could this be from too much calcium?

Those white things in the soil look like perlite to me. That's why I suggested itI don't think there will be any recovery.
There was no bubbling when eggshells were added so it must be a dilution problem.
All I can do is laugh - and learn to do better next time.

That sucks, I know I'm on a learning curve here myself but I hate to see any plants not make it.I don't think there will be any recovery.
