How can you kill something that looks at you like that!! I used to put my speargun aside, break a barnacle, hide my body confront the grouper and flick-feed the little ones with barnackle meat :D Followed by scaring the fuck out of them so they don`t confront a human diver again.

If it makes me sound less girly, I could shoot anything else, kill octopusses with my hands and beat them on the rocks to tenderise. Shoot birds, heirs, slaughter animals, skin things you name it!

Kill groupers? NO! :D They are sought after gold by spearfishers though, but not many of them left either... That influences me to not kill them too.

I've had the privilege of snorkeling off of the Florida Keys, and got to see some big groupers up close. They are awesome fish, but where I am from there are tons of them (mostly under the legal size limit), but some above, so keeping a couple to eat is no big deal for me. My favorite fish for sure

Glad to find out there are so many other divers on the site. I'm not even rescue certified yet, but hope to be this summer. I'll have to start a thread on diving some time to go into it more.

Bringing this back to manliness, I am disappointed in the way most scuba training has dummied down. You hardly have to demonstrate that you can swim anymore to get certified.

The gulf of mexico is the pond.Being in the area your in i'm surprised you haven't heard of that one.

Well than you need to tighten up bro.I have got my share at the south skyway pier.Lots of fun from a pier........manly fishin.

I'm lookin to be that way around the middle of next month to hit up our usual charter.And i see i got screwed again.....june 1 gags are closed.Such bullchit.

Everything is PADI these days... or PADI certified....

it just makes sense to get certified with them... I mean I've seen people in polynesian 5 star PADI rated resorts with CMAS certifications as well as some other french certifications but they still worked at a "padi 5 star resort" with their padi cards as their main credentials..

Tenner.......youtube Goliath Grouper fishing Tampa Fl.You'll have a much better understanding.They say that they can reach 800+ pds.I believe our state record camr from the jacksonville area years ago at just over 600 pds from shore.

When I was about 8, I held this black goat by the horns and a picture was taken. Just as the pic was taken, the scenario was me holding the goat by the horns with my feet a foot off the ground with a look on my face like I was about to cry. Everyone had an awesome look on their face and one dude was just about to clap his hands. What a moment was caught :D .5 seconds later I was on my ass very confused with the goat being the REAL MAN :D I was smart enough to do it on the last 20cm of its leash so it didn`t "do me in properly" though :D

Awesome pic btw, weren`t you scared shitless of that beast? you MAN! :D

Lol, great story! And the bull is actually a steer, he doesn't put up as much of a fight as a breeding bull. One of those would probably kill me if I tried that.
