Being a Man

I have to say that swimming with bull-sharks and their ilk gives me a rush. I scuba, and it's a challenge to conserve as much air as possible when face to face with a critter like that in its own environment-- not that I stay around for long. They're very territorial.

In terms of manlyness, though, I guess I feel my 'y' chromosome the most when I figure out how to fix something on my junker pickup. I had lots of bad experiences with my dad working on cars when I was a kid-- didn't learn much at the time, so figuring it out on my own now makes everything just fine.

Yeah dude, we go tubin and wakeboarding in the same area where we catch big bull sharks. Our news paper just ran a story about how bulls are back in the area, good time to go fishing:blsmoke:

Wow, I forgot the influence of the law in your country. I was spearfishing (mediterranean island) from the age of 13 but my mom would give me the biggest deal if I went alone :)

It`l make me sound "girly" but I used to spear groupers at first, but after about a year I just fell for them. They are just lovely!! Stunning beuty! Friendly & Curious too!

How can you kill something that looks at you like that!! I used to put my speargun aside, break a barnacle, hide my body confront the grouper and flick-feed the little ones with barnackle meat :D Followed by scaring the fuck out of them so they don`t confront a human diver again.

If it makes me sound less girly, I could shoot anything else, kill octopusses with my hands and beat them on the rocks to tenderise. Shoot birds, heirs, slaughter animals, skin things you name it!

Kill groupers? NO! :D They are sought after gold by spearfishers though, but not many of them left either... That influences me to not kill them too.

(Oh shit, don`t mean to hijack the thread lol)

I feel ya Tenner.....but i must admit i have no problem stickin a 10/0 gamakastu through a fat pinfishes ass and sendin it to the bottom for a nice healthy gag.

But i do agree....they are one bad ass fish in all perspective. But i love them a little to much out of some hot grease to send them all back.YUM.

Xrtnfx..........i'm down with you on the sharks.Nothin better than a straight up man handlin type of fishin.I'm presuming your catchin these in the big pond? How bout some goliath fishin?

I trained as CMAS but thats not "high standard" for the PADI`s out there, apparently :D

I`m nothing too experienced in SCUBA, just 1 star.

This.

Not sure what the big pond is, I catch them in Tampa Bay. It's illegal to keep a Goliath here, but you can still catch them for the fight. I've never personally caught one, but I have seen people do it. The biggest grouper I've caught is probably only 30 lbs, but the biggest fish is well over 250lbs
