Lowes has live 24inch san pedro cactuses for 20 dollars plus tax
WhATT?? lowe's carries the real deal S.P. with the alkaloids and all for 20 bucks? That seems too good to be true. How ironic, buying a sacred cactus from a demonic commercial scourge and blight on the earth such as Lowe's! Better yet, Steal it!!

But do the plants from Lowes have good genetics?
I'm curious of their Alkaloid content. They may be good.
People do use San Pedro as a decorative plant.
Are you sure they are Trichocereus pachanoi?

ON the weekend I'm heading straight to LOWE'S no doubt!

Your wasting your time IMHO if you are going to use SP for anything other than for grafting.

But T. brigidesii or TBM's on the other hand gives you more bang for buck:)

The bridgesii may be more potent, but San Pedro is far from being a waste of time.

I've bought several rooted San Pedro's and Peruvian Torch's.
I just planted in cacti/citrus soil I got at the garden center. In a ceramic pot.
Cacti are easy to take care of. they are hard to kill. you can neglect them and they will survive.
Mine have survived a few winters(mild in my area) outdoors, including several freezes.
I've heard they can survive harsher winters than I am use to.
they can be planted outside in the ground if good drainage is provided.San Pedro is faster growing than Peyote and legal.
However once you consume it or prepare it for consumption it becomes illegal. San Pedro does contain less mescaline. So more must be consumed than Peyote.

I would say San Pedro is good for first time cactus growers.
For More info check out erowid http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti.shtml

And here is a cacti related board: http://www.entheogen.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=134 lots of info.

Keep in mind some of the cacti you can buy will NOT have the alkaloids. They may be CALLED a certain cactus, but you have to inspect for yourself. My cactus guy went thru several before making his decision to cultivate a few. I know he has some peruvian torch but I dont think we have consumed any.

I did notice the difference between bridgesii and san pedro in that you do have to drink more san pedro, but the bridgesii is way harder to choke down if I remember correctly.

And anyone's description of how nasty it tastes is accurate, but WELL worth it.

I spent an entire 9 hours on a spiritual cleansing; I threw up all over the place, got a bloody nose, man it was hell, BUT once I pulled myself out of my little hole, the trip went way better. These cacti are about some serious introspective soul-searching.

9 hours of puke was still worth it. I hate puking too. But when you respect the cactus and prepare for it, WONDERFUL.

It is funny to hear Lowes selling them. Yes, they are 100% legal to own, to grow in unlimited supply, and even legal to cut up. However, the processed juice is illegal........... ooops! no evidence, all gone!

Man and ive even forgotten.... the best part of cactus is youll be tripping your balls or ovaries off, and NO ONE CAN TELL! there is also no drug test for these alkali. You could get arrested, be sitting in the police station and be having one hell of a good time for hours! No red eye, no extra talkativeness, no munchies, just calm serenity and speaking to God. ;)

Yes it is the real San Pedro from Lowes I don't know how many alkaloids or anything that are in it but i was going to let it grow for another five years or so. It has that blue hue to it and its dark green so I would say good alkaloid content.

I wanted to update:

I asked my bud about the site and he said that sacredcactus.com is where he gets most of his. The guy is totally legit, a great source of information, and will talk to you over the phone or via email.

If I were going to spend 190$ on cuttings, I might try ordering cuttings from several different vendors for variety and testing.

That's a wise idea, but keep in mind I'm trying to do this economically because I'm poor. The 190 price (including shipping) is only for a larger bulk amount. But I guess I could start small and order from a few places. I have some friends who would go in on it with me so I'd probably buy like 3-4 feet for myself. maybe two to root and grow and two to... grow.

I'm not familiar with the vendor. So can't comment on it.
but it is a pretty good bulk price.
Especially if your going in on it with mates.
