Best way to grow different strains?

So I got ahold of a greenhouse variety pack and have been growing a bunch of different strains to see what grows the best. I took clones from 5 of the 8 strains, and will use the yield/quality of my first cycle to determine which ones i will keep. However, for the first cycle, how should i deal with the different flowering times? I guess I just wont be able to flush them properly except for the last ones?
yes it was answerd.if you are in the same resivore then you are going to or could have problems when plant problems accure.

First grow i did, i foolishly grew 4 different strains, one of each. I mixed up one batch of water based on the bottle, and shared it around each watering. Only 3 of the 4 survived.

The idea behind growing is that you learn as you do it. You should be thinking that you will look at one strain for now, grow it out, observe what it likes and how it grows and such, and then grow the same strain next time around, you now have a basic idea of what you are looking for and what to look out for, be it temperatures or whatnot.

I have a nice number of grows under my belt now, and have worked with multiple mediums, i still would not like to grow multiple strains from one reservoir tank, i have observed significant variations in what certain plants want and use.

i would think an emenflow system would work better for a multi strain grow. that way you can disconect that plant from the system to fix her..

Agreed, i definitely wouldn't use a system that had the roots in touching proximity. I see it as more effort than it's worth though. If you have the room in your cab to have a seond emergency reservoir for tending to ill plants, you might as well have just had a strain going on each reservoir. Like with 2 plants in one pot, there are no guarantees things will go wrong, it can be fine, but for 4 months of effort, it makes sense to minimize any possible issues from the get go.

Two replies:

- Only 4 survived? Great! Now you dialed it in for the other 3. :) Congrats! Job well done. :)

- Worried only 4 will survive? Plant 5! Job well done. :)

Always shoot for plants to throw away and fully flower the best!

Yup! Check my grow journal, and look for posts about a "Mutant" plant. Harvested it 3 weeks later for an extra 2 ounces by way of disconnecting it, plugging the hose entry with a rubber grommet and hand watering/draining it instead of throwing it away.

Great way to massively complicate the process of "dialing it in".

I had not dialed it in in any way. I don't know why that plant died, i didn't work out why the buds turned a pale yellow on one of the others and i didn't learn as much as i could have, next grow was pretty much from stage 1 and i know it was not the smartest of things to have done.

To really drive the point home, the thread title asks what the best way to grow different strains. Using one reservoir is not, and for a first timer, especially not. You may be lucky and get away scot free, but you are greatly increasing the odds of something going awry.

I guess I'm one of those clowns and I think you are giving him terrible advice.

Height problems are the least of his concern. Its easy enough to control height through pruning and training. Its the nute problems that are the big problems..
+1

even the low-tech solution of a couple of boxes will fix height issues, nutrient issues are going to be nearly impossible to deal with.
