Oh they carry guns. They just don't make a big deal out of it.

Michael Reinoehl, 48, a self-described antifa supporter, was filmed shooting the man during last weekend's tension, and admitted to it before his death.

Aaron Danielson, an American supporter of the far-right group Patriot Prayer, was shot dead after participating in "Trump 2020 Cruise Rally"

Regardless of all that, I don't think the real Progressives on the left condone that behaviour or want to be associated with the antifa crowd. Unfortunately that's who most people across the country associate antifa with. And one of the reasons the Democrats lost House seats last election. The Defund the Police message is not something most people agree with including Democrats.
Which is why the false narratives are pushed by the Republicans as being reality when it is not.

It still drives me nuts that Trump tweets for that guys head and got it. While fucknut Ricky Schroder is all smiles with Kenosha Killer Kyle after murdering multiple people and Trump hails as a hero.

Well just by looking at the man that's intimidating that elderly woman's skin it's obvious that he isn't a proud boy. That was an incident at the Pembura Kelley building at 47th and Burnside where the Portland Police and Multnomah County Sheriffs office share a space. This was a group of the "Defund Police" crowd trying to set the building on fire. It's in the middle of a residential area. I know for a fact that these thugs are not right wingers. They're the same people that were vandalizing and causing mayhem for months. If they're not the left then who are they and why are there no loud voices on the left condemning their behaviour? A whisper here and there is all that's been heard.

I'm sure glad that it's gotten cold as they don't have the fortitude to continue with their nonsense any longer.

That's the one. It's sickening. It makes my blood boil with rage. That crowd is despicable. But that is one tough Grandma that wasn't backing down from that punk She didn't deserve what they did to her. That's what it turned into in Portland. That's not a protest. That's a crowd of idiots destroying property and harassing an old lady. Calling her bitch and spitting on her.

I'll agree with you there, it was a stupid simple minded narrative, reform the police would have been better. The fact that the police need to be reformed is with out doubt. The republicans created this situation of cutting social services and collapsing all those functions onto police. The actions of the police taking sides with violent armed rightwing fanatics was evident across multiple American cities, in many cases they were directly insubordinate of civil authority.

What about those illegal federal goons who were in Portland, the all white force that was shoving people in vans and assaulting them illegally on the streets? Are you going to tolerate secret federal police coming into your state in defiance of the governors orders and the mayor's request? That is a far bigger worry than some snotty nosed kid dressed in black breaking windows. If I were a citizen of Portland that's were my focus would be, federal goons and why exactly were those moms in the streets and dads defending them from tear gas with leaf blowers. It sounds like one of those reasons to address grievances mentioned in the US constitution, 1st article in fact. The people were in the streets for a reason and a good one too, freedom, the police serve them, they don't suppress them, they don't pay them for that.

I didn't think the feds should have been in Portland other than the ones protecting the Federal Building in downtown Portland which should not have even been necessary because people should not have been trying to vandalize it and set it on fire. The extra people that trump sent in was just a publicity stunt for him to brag about and act tough. But the Federal Government is responsible for the security of it's property. That doesn't authorize policing the streets of Portland and their actions were illegal.

Defund the Police is a non starter all across America. If anything most people want more and better policing. There needs to be some serious reform but that's going to take time and is not going to just happen overnight like flipping a switch. But it's starting.

In a twist of irony, Joann Hardesty a Portland City Commissioner and one of the biggest proponents of cutting money from the police recently had an incident where she herself called the police.

I think that lady is amazing for standing up and being calm throughout the entire thing.

I think the focus on the one black guy is a red herring though, like I mentioned when I first saw it, I would like to have seen the entire situation unfold.

It is hard to tell, but that woman yelling horrible things to that lady sounds like a white instigator to me.

You keep getting off track with one-off instances recorded in videos taken at the moment and shared on the internet. Those are hardly representative of the protests last summer.

In fact, your whole story is just loose strands with emotional appeal. So, lets get down to some real facts.

For example,

Then on June 30, just four days after a federal judge had sided with protesters and issued a restraining order on the use by police of less-lethal weapons, Portland officers meeting protesters outside the local police union building again fired smoke grenades, rubber bullets, and other impact munitions into the crowd, injuring several people. They then declared the protest a riot and deployed tear gas despite the court order restricting its use.

“They blatantly ignored the order,” Tai Carpenter, Don’t Shoot Portland’s board president, told The Intercept. “What happened on June 30 was just an all-out attack on civilians. That night just really stands out for the vast amount of violence that was being inflicted on the street.”

Portland's police did not follow the law. You can post all the photos you like, it doesn't change the fact that time after time, Portland's police behaved as judge, jury, prosecutor and executioner in many examples of lawlessness last summer. That's the reason for these protest and what they are asking to get changed. It takes months for cases like the one described above to work it's way through our legal system. One reason is that the police themselves file false reports on what happened, so we have to go to physical evidence and stitch the story together.

Regarding Proud Boys and Trump's DHS goons, Portland's Police coordinated activities with them throughout the summer. It's time to stop them from doing this. Its time to re-work our justice system so that men with guns and specific training to use them are not the first ones who are called in situations that don't require that kind of skill.

That same mayhem in that video played out every night in Portland for months. The only reason it's stopped is because the cold chased everyone away.

You say that the Portland Police did not follow the law. You're correct. But those so called protesters were breaking the law every night. Arson and vandalism is not protesting. There are hundreds of businesses and tens of thousands of Portland citizens that would say scenes like that were representative of what occurred over the summer. It was on the news live every night for months. Chaos and mayhem is what it was. There are literally hundreds of videos all from different nights showing mobs throwing bricks, frozen water bottles, and shooting fireworks at police. It was confined to relatively small areas but it was happening every night. There are dozens of people that were assaulted by the mob. People driving down the street attacked, cars vandalized, windows smashed. It was disgraceful.

I believe in reforming the police but the tactics used by these mobs has done nothing for that cause. If anything it's set that cause back and eroded the support needed to implement any significant change. Most Democrats in Portland are disgusted and wanted nothing to do with those anarchists hiding behind a BLM sign while calling Black Portland Police Officers the "N" word. Portland has a significant amount of Black Officers and a Black Police Chief. How can they say Black Lives Matter and then throw rocks at Black men wearing a Police uniform?

If you believe in reforming the police then perhaps you should put more energy there instead of reposting images of questionable value?

I, for one, can't apologize for what protesters are doing because the police who caused the protests in the first place are using orders of magnitude more violence on those same protesters. The real violence, perpetrated in huge numbers was by police on the people they are paid to protect. The police are the real problem here. It's time to get serious about reshaping our police departments in the area.

Quoting from the article I referenced earlier,

The judge in the case is expected to rule on whether to hold the city in contempt of court in the coming days.

“It’s hard to have faith in the court system when it’s been proven all your life that your civil liberties don’t matter,” said Carpenter of Don’t Shoot Portland. “But the trauma and the violence have been clearly documented on the record; they’re facts that can’t be ignored. Even with the way that our justice system works, there has to be accountability.”

Just one incident of many this summer was documented well enough to show that the police perpetrated violence on a crowd of protesters against a court order telling them not to. Months later, we will soon have a judgement against the city. Is that what you would call accountability for our police?

Yes that looks like the East Precinct. I don't believe in the propaganda theory as if it was all orchestrated by the right. That's a rabbit hole I'm not going down. It's like the big conspiracy many believe on the right that there was a big conspiracy by the left to steal the election. There are no facts to support it.

It is what it is. That punk was harassing an old lady.

Reposting images of questionable value? What is of value? Only pictures of peaceful protesters waving flowers? Those images are real. There is nothing questionable about them. I'm doing what I can to reform the police in a civil way and the only way that people should be following. This is the United States not Pakistan. These mobs are a disgrace. They are accomplishing nothing other than to cause financial hardship on many.

I used the outlet available in a Democracy to enact change. I voted for Measure 26-217 which I doubt a good portion of those protesters did since many are not even residents of Portland. Those thugs and their mayhem are nothing more than a distraction. Adults are actually getting things done. It's not going to happen overnight and burning and vandalizing police stations isn't going to change anything. They lost any credibility when they started vandalizing and looting to pay for all their fancy new combat gear.

I don't look at it as being all orchestrated by the right.

But that doesn't mean that the right is not paying propagandists on youtube to make videos showing the very narrative they need it to look like to push their 'law and order' scam that Trump needed to get re-elected.

The one black guy in that crowd gets pushed and all of a sudden it is part of the narrative that BLM protestors are destroying cities.

Also I am not saying that the black guy wasn't acting like an ass. But I would also point out that the lady was not afraid of him and was calming him down, while that white lady in the crowd was shouting obscenities near the camera.

And you have yet to actually acknowledge that video showing the white supremecist breaking up windows posing as 'ANTIFA'. There is more evidence of them also pushing the rioting narrative online to try to get people to do damage in these cities.

Like them sending out this:

It is worth understanding how easy it is to make it seem like much worse is happening by flooding the feeds with propaganda of a few events.

https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-people-behind-the-violence-in-the-american-protests-of-george-floyd.1018871/post-15723153

It is also worth acknowledging it, because it helps to think about it next time you fall into the trap of thinking the rioters using these protests as cover have anything to do with 'the left'.

I've always been a moderate. I don't like the extremes of both the left and the right. I don't agree with the far right and I don't agree with the far left. Living here in Portland I've had the unpleasant opportunity to see both sides up close. At this point all they've done is destroyed what was one of the most beautiful cities in the country. They have no viable solutions to anything other than to gather en masse and rant about everything except the damage they're doing to this nation. There was a time when both sides could work together. But now moderates from both sides can't compromise or they'll be targeted by the extreme factions of their party. The reason nothing gets done today is a direct result of the actions by the extreme elements of both parties. Both parties need to grow a spine and show the extreme elements the door. Let them form their own parties.
It's the safe districts that do this. Make each district as close to 50/50 as you can, and the moderates will rise to the top.

The source of the problem lies with the violence perpetrated by the police. I just gave you an account of a court case that took months to stitch together in order to bring some sort of accountability to the city if not the Portland Police Bureau. The police are violating court orders in order to commit the very same violence that the protesters are there to protest against. You show snapshots of random acts without context as if there is some sort of justification for police violence. Time to break that cycle.

Give some of your anger to the real source of the problem, why don't you?

Oh, and good for you and Portland for doing what's already been tried before in other cities without changing a thing. If the police won't follow a direct court order, how can one expect the fascists in the PPB to listen to civilians? More change than that is needed. Not saying it's a bad thing but it's not even the beginning of a beginning.

The real thugs who create mayhem are some of the police themselves.

Micheal Reinoehl has been dead for a month or more, shot without warning by police - suspected of shooting the same Aaron Danielson you mention (Reinoehl claimed it was self-defense, but we’ll never know now...not that you care): whoever told you that was him, last week, is either a fucking liar, too stupid to believe, maybe just doesn’t care, ‘cause he knows YOU don’t care.

What brave new world is this, where professional outlaws are so fond of law enforcement?
