j/k kiddin' w/ya Beech.Just a little jealous there are no crappie in my future.Damn those tasty little bastards
Boy they are good eaters.nom nom.
When i use to guide during the winter we would catch what we call rockbass there like a little sandie but have a yellow belly.
There RT there with the crappie in taste.
Was on a trip oneday jiggin spoons in 30ft + and a guy hooks a bass about 5lbs as hes reeling it in and theres a school of BIG bass following,About 3ft from surface one comes up and scales the bass on his line,I saw it and she had to be over 15lbs.It had the 5lber in its mouth all the way up to the Gills.
Last spring I caught 3 fish on a jerkbait 1 on the front hook and 2 on the back hooks.Ive seen dead fish before Bass with another in its mouth tht Choked to death,on Lake Fork!

You guys ever see a Ling Cod ?
They hang out on/near rock piles & are extremely vicious.
We usually catch a couple a year - while bringing in small halibut (10-15 lbs) and rock fish, they will inhale them & not let go.
Free gaffing is a fun (and very wet) experience and damn are they good eating - better than halibut IMHO.

I've caught a lot of bowfin as well (my Dad used to call them Grinnel's).
They are one heck of a fight on a Bass outfit - and they can live out of the water for hours.
Suckers are tough !

Soo true,me and my son whos 12 in june have a blast,Little chit talks smack and beats me almost everytime, with the sun perch.
Hes learning know to bass fish but I kill him there as he doesnt have the patience to throw worms,or slow baits.
Good times tho he brings his friend and they love the boat rides.
Austin my son is getting very good at riding his MX bike Slobus.Im not gonna push him tho as hard as I was pushed.

Yeah it's hard for me to hit the little honey holes for schoolies sized strippers in the form of large mouth haha the ocean is just to close for me, best fight I've had was with a tarpon in key west.. Fought it for three hours and it dragged the skiff 4 miles around a lagoon.. Epic!

Badass dude, I caught a 100lb- tish tarpon off the Dania beach pier, took maybe 45m-hr,brought it up to the jetty 3 times, cousin had to yell at people to get outta the way, even a couple looky-loos in boats getting to close.BEST FIGHT I'VE HAD!!!!!A few 20lb snook I caught on light bass tackle fought like hell too:)!!!
Tied tail to tail,a 5lb snook could pull a 10lb striper from Florida to Maine:)

Love catching some flatheads. Especially in high water out of a small boat by myself. Talk about a good time.

Fish runs, anchor up, chase fish, drop anchor, fight fish, fish runs anchor up, repeat...etc.

awesome time. Especially in a nice july rain.

The guy that got the biggest pike in our group is now named Catfish Hunter
Hey, that's the name of my boat :joint:

Yah, they do put up a hell of a fight and I can attest to them twisting off treble hooks. One of these suckers ruined my favorite crawdad rap.

We consider bowfin/dogfish trash fish and kill em. Stinky, slimy bastards.

I actually went to my buddies pond yesterday. It is pretty nice It's an old quarry around 8 acres. I didn't catch anything of size but it was nonstop action 10-18" largemouths on my spinnerbaits.
