Yeah I have decided I am going to do some topping. If not, by the time my seedlings get to a decent height, I am gonna have plants that are way too tall and an uneven canopy.

Welcome by the way and thanks for the comments! I think I am going to go with something like you are suggesting.

how do you keep your temperatures so low?
Welcome to my grow! I have a 13,000 BTU A/C unit that allows me to run my room at whatever temps I want, within reason.

looking good man.

keep up the good work...
Thanks Grow Space! Good to have you along. +rep to you as well!

thats a nice bush :0)
Thanks Cloudy. Just wait, I am gonna have some mini trees. My goal is to harvest 2-3 zones per plant, at least for the 5 bigger clones. So we will see!

awsome grow by the way. what do you do with the heat from the air conditioner? i have a 600w in a 3x3 and my temps are in the 90's even with it air cooled and vented through the ceiling with a 4" inline. Im plannin on getting a 6"inline going from 170 cfm to 440 cfm. oh ya and did you have to put in another breaker? my 5000 btu i got last night trips the circuit.

So I watered the plant with 1 and 1/8 tsp of Grow Big, 1 tablespoon Big Bloom, and 1 drop of superthrive, all per gallon. The 4 smaller clones got 12 oz of solution, while the larger got 14 oz. Last time I watered each got 18 oz and it took 5 days for them to dry out sufficiently. So I am cutting back their amounts, in hopes that I can water once per 3 days at this amount. We will see.

I have decided to top them. My question is, what do you all think about topping some of the side branches too?

Well, everything is looking good. I already have roots poking out of the side of the container, so I expect some rapid growth. In a couple weeks, I plan to transplant them all once again for the final time into some 3.5 gallon containers....perhaps even bigger, we will see. Thoughts?

And as for my a/c, it is a window unit so the heat just goes outside.

90f! Yikes! That's way too hot! I would for with CFL's until you can cool it properly! The reason my room is so cool is because my a/c is badass! I can supply as cool as 50f source air for my room, and no 1000 watt is going to create enough heat to combat that! Plus, I have a 340 cfm fan exhausting my light and a large, high power fan from walmart pushing that air away from my plants.

I would caution against this just for the reason of having Too many branches. If you remember I 'topped' some of my plants 10 times last grow. They branched beautifully, but then at harvest time I had like 200 branches to trim. I would have much prefered somehing closer to 30 or even 50.

Other than having a bunch of branches, it's a good idea to let them 'bush' out.

I just keep going back and forth. I think the 4 clones are going to catch up with the taller 5th. Maybe I will let them go and then try Uncle Ben's method to get 4 main colas for these barb seedlings. I won't grow single cola barbs anymore. They are very mold friendly. I am waffling here huh...

gotcha. thanks for the 411. looks like im gonna be looking for a portable air conditioner.
Yep. Portables are way more expensive than window units though.

wow, plants are looking great bro. I say top/fim that shit, or pinch it and thin out the center. either way, the babies gotta catch up (unless you are impatient like me, and end up using risers). :peace:

Well, I did it before with no real issues....I made a little stand and it worked out fine...

But it seems to me I could increase my yield if I increased the growth points. These are going to be big girls when they are done. I just don't know for sure. It seems so subjective. And I don't know how this strain(s) will grow/respond to topping, let alone how it flowers.

That's why part of me just wants to let them go and learn from it. Then next cycle I will know.

Can you describe this pinching and thinning more please?

And BTW, welcome to my grow! Your avatar is hilarious!

thanks man. well, thinning is just pruning/mild defoliation. if you have a plant with a billion budding sites but its a jungle, it makes sense to trim it back in the center/bottom so its not blocking its own light. I learned this one the hard way. pinching aka supercropping is just rupturing the stem gently so it slows the vertical growth and makes the side shoots grow faster. pinch and thin.
also, i am all for experimentation... do a few plants one way and a few differently. with risers its all good! :peace:

Yeah I have been doin some stem crushing the last couple days.

Seems like it helps them uptake nutes/water later in flower. Bigger stems and all...

I crushed the tallest one's stem in about 9 places and left the others alone to catch up.

I haven't removed any leaves or anything though.

you shouldn't need to remove anything for now while it heals from pinching. i fucking love seeing those huge knots on the stem develop after pinching.

Yeah I think I will see what happens and take some new pics on Friday for you guys to look at.

I will take some above shots, side shots, and close up shots of each of the 5 plants.
