At the risk of giving this comment more weight than we have already provided I have a question about a check valve for siphoning.

Does the valve have to be above the bubbler? Or does it just need to be spliced into the supply line anywhere?

I ask because it won't fit in the reservoir due to how I have it set up. I was thinking about putting it near the air bleed valve, but then I remembered opening that valve all the way up and the water still siphoning.

This is what I'm hoping to use. View attachment 5349923View attachment 5349924
I would think the closer to the res you can get it the better, the siphoning is caused by the water suction from dropping out of the res. Installing it there would be past the origin of the problem, IMHO. I think installing it at the top of the 1/2" line exiting the res would be optimum.
EDIT: Refer to Annie's setup.

Finally got 5 seeds to germinate.
I don't know why this time was so difficult. First I tried rapid rooter plugs-2 out of 6. Paper towel method 1 out of 2.
Float tech germination seems like the best method so far, 2 for 2. Coincidentally this is the method NASC recommends.
Any who, 2 mystery seeds, 1 Gazurple and one OG kush x vanilla frosting in the main tent and 1 red haired mexican auto in the box in the garage.

I've spent 7 whole minutes watering this week, so going forward I am going to gain 23 minutes a week on you. Plus it's fun and helpful to work out our kinks together and onlookers learn stuff too. What you call fiddly farting helps keep my aging brain supple.
I think we all do a lot of fiddly farting. I have 10 seedlings and 4 tents going. I fiddly fart with the best of em. I agree it's fun learning, which is why I asked a question about the work load which for me is the most important part. It's toke and talk, so I figured a little nonsense verbiage was normal. Didn't mean to bother.

Seemed like you were calling our efforts into doubt. Maybe choice of verbiage matters.

I read it in jest. Yes, the workload will get less once bugs are worked out of the system. One big part of my issue is timing. If I don't get home from work til late, I miss lights on and have to open tent in the dark to water. Not to mention, I only have access to one side of my tent so getting all the way to the back of the tent can be a bitch with a full canopy and scrog trellis in place. But in the end, however one enjoys taking care of their girls is the best way.

No doubt, just curiosity. There have been several conversations about things that went wrong with multiple people's setups that required extra purchases, or misinformation on product listing, or more time working out the layout of the system due to unforseen issues the last few weeks. I wanted to know how much time you guys felt you were saving overall.

For sure. I just water during lights out in that case, but if I could skip a day or 2 and just do minimal checking between (with minimal risk to my hardwood floored second story grow room) I would rip it off like a bandaid >.<

Lol definitely evens out. The ability to not rely on others when you need to be gone is glorious.
Totally. If I had life circumstances that required frequent travel, or even a desire to travel I would be there already. Right now I am not working and my time is free, so it isn't worth it. But if a vacation opportunity comes up, hoooo boy I am IN
