I've been feeding the chipmunks for the past 4 years since our last cat died. Now we have a new cat. I have a feeling ill wind up with a bunch of extra peanuts this year

Are your chipmunk numbers starting to explode or not really?
I ask because both my neighbors cats hunted them and kept the numbers way down. They would come home almost daily with a chipmunk in their mouths. But I have not seen the cats in about 1 year and with them not around, the chipmunk population has been increasing. There are so many buzzing around here that they are fighting each other for the good holes in the ground or prime spots in the woodpile.
I've seen the little buggers chasing each other around the porch then scrapping at my basement door three feet away.
Wasn't sure if you have your chipmunks doing shit like that.
