Summer 2026 there is a big soccer event here that is going to make things stupid for a few days.
Yes, our fair city will be over run with Soccer Hooligans, and it'll be gloriously chaotic!
FIFA 2026 ... I forgot that was coming here.

But fear not urban denizen ... we will get a smattering of the first round games only.
I plan on taking my kids to at least one match. I'm not a football/soccer fan, but how many times will the worlds biggest sporting event (yes, bigger than the Olympics friends) be held in our backyard? It'll be pretty cool, until it isn't and I'm yelling at people to 'get off my poperty!' ;)

Might be a little dramatic ... but Rangers/Hurricanes should be a good series. Rangers can prevail - they have great goaltending in Shesterkin.
And that's just old school hockey. The winning team didn't win every game, they survived every series. New rules are getting away from that. We need some more devastating open ice hits, and way more fights. We need the likes of Darius Kasparaitis, Scott Steven's. Renember watching Mario lemeux lay people out and charge the net like a tank that had the hands of a surgeon? Gretzky setting up in the "office" behind the net so he didn't get destroyed by a goon. Imagine Gretzky in today's game with all the protections players get today. Imagine how far lindross would have gotten. Survival of the fittest. If your afraid of getting hurt out on the ice, put on a leotard and a pair of figure skates with very aggressive toe picks.

Fucken Islanders. Patric Roy is a Joke. He should stick the the net, he never did look good on the bench.

Sheesh, tough crowd out on long island

They sure are ... and I for one am glad. Let's see skating and speed as opposed to a George Laroque and a Colton Orr "skating" for a few wasted shifts in the first period just so they can drop the dukes and get game misconducts early in the 2nd.
There's a time and place for a fight. Momentum is everything in hockey. A goal can deflate an entire team just as well as an awesome save. There's an art to it too. That's the fun part to watch. Not just the fight, but how it took 2 periods of instigating without drawing a penalty to finally get to beat the hell out of someone for something they did 3 weeks ago. Not all bang the chest and throw haymakers at helmets
