I'm right there with you! I've even got a pack of Dutch passion blueberry in the stash, which is a different selection from DJs original work....from what I hear has a lot of grapey-blueberry type terps....don't know how worked it is and how many expressions show, but after all these years I'd imagine they've worked it a bit

Blue Star works closely with DJ. The work is excellent and I think people will be impressed when growing it out. I will be doing Grape Juice Cocktail this winter.

The old dutch passion one was great as for now idk i hear its more herm ridden i know the blue lines always were more prone to it but its worse now supposedly but it was suggested by a guy on uk420 that grew some newer stock ones out a few year back that he found if you give em a longer veg period he found they behaved more sexually stable ig it cant hurt to try that out mind you idk how old the line of dp blueberry is that you hold but if its the old one thats some good stuff if its the newer one hopefully you get lucky

Has anyone ever had djshort's son jdshort's Blue Drama [B.O.G.'s Sour Bubble x Djshort's Blueberry F4]?

I just recently began legally growing my own indoor craft Cannabis nearly four years ago in Upstate New York and I have been searching for old school Blueberry I smoked as a teenager in my early 20s.

A long deceased old man from here in Upstate ran djshort's original Blueberry outdoors from 1999ish - 2008 when he passed away and he left behind no cuts to my knowledge.

It was absolutely phenomenal bud which REEKED and had terps for days grown organically in the mucklands here. The coloration was forest green, was fairly dense yet fluffy and was candy coated in trichs with a lower than usual amount of dark orange hairs.

I have grown some excellent bud these past few years using some of the best genetic I have been able to source from around the world and I have some real stinky of my own but that Blueberry grown outside in the dirt was very special.

Djshort's son jdshort says that his Blue Drama is his take on his father's mythical and infamous pre-98 Blueberry. Here is his strain description:

"This is the Blue Drama. She’s an extremely colorful, highly resinous and pungently sweet and spicy/musky cross. We named her Blue Drama for her gorgeously dramatic blue and purple expressions. This is our version of the mythical “Pre-’98 Blueberry.” Her aroma is floral fruity and musky spiced dank berry while her flavor is fruity incense and spiced berries. Her effect is dramatically euphoric and narcotic along with relaxation and munchies. The mother of the Blue Drama is Sour Bubble while the father is Dj’s F4 Blueberry breeding stud."


Does anybody have experience growing this strain and is it anything like true old school Blueberry from the late 70s - mid 00s?

Apparently it isn't a great yieleder but that isn't what I am after. I am after the terps and euphoria with this one.

Attached are a few photos of a Blue Drama I currently have in veg so you guys can check out the deep purple stem! I am hoping this one's a female or I will have to pop a few more seeds. I only popped one regular seed due to lack of room with multiple other varieties currently growing.

You need to curb your expectations.

There is NO blueberry like the pre99 Blueberry, those insanely strong terps are gone.

You can find stuff that tastes like blueberry or has hints of it....but nothing comes even CLOSE to the pre99, which is extinct.

It's like searching for road kill skunk....ppl claim to have it every so often, but it never turns out to be it....it's been gone for over 20 years.....it isn't coming back.

Thanks for all of that of which I have read 100x over before whilst researching Blueberry & Skunk strains.

Have you grown out Blue Drama per chance and how did you like it if so?

I am looking to find the closest thing to pre-98 Blueberry [which I am unconvinced Cannot be recreated, at least to some extent in a realm of seemingly infinite possibilities which is terpene mixing & matching / cultivation & pheno hunting over time].

I am very curious to see how the Blue Drama is considering the kid who bred it grew up smelling Blueberry everyday as he stated in an interview.

B.O.G.'s [RIP] Sour Bubble is an amazing strain JD took and crossed to his old man's purple stem F4 Blueberry Male breeding stud.

P.S. Honestly, my expectations are very low, however it hasn't stopped me nor will stop me trom searching through the best genetics I am able to acquire for something extremely close to old school Blueberry whenever I have space and ain't busy growing an assortment of other strains. I have yet to get into crossbreeding and cultivating my own, nor have I even began to clone yet however I did just buy a clone dome last month to fuck around with for fun. Thus far I have stuck strictly to growing out seed stock with great results. I like my bud just as good or better than anything found on a dispensary shelf or anything from family or friend's who grow.

Not Blue drama....but I did grow Azure Haze as my 1st grow, and obviously with a first grow, I picked it too early and I'm still mad lol....basically ended up being a real strong potent SSH with a slight hint of berry....but had I let her go longer, the blueberry would have been so much stronger....once you broke open the nugs they reeked like blueberries....unfortunately because of my inexperience, the smell didn't translate as much as it should have

I am very inexperienced at this point in my journey and have a whole lot to learn. I had a good jump start being a regular and veteran of The Shroomery & The Growery forums [the community general chat subforums] as a teenager and young adult [2003 - 2016] where I made a lot of friends IRL from out West in California, Washington, Arizona, and Oregon.

My best friend from the boards was from Ventura, California and she grew epic weed. Her two staple strains were Super Silver Haze & Blue Dream from clones a guy named Magash from Mendocino County gifted to her and which she grew hydroponically for years cloning them. She passed away in 2016.

She and others bestowed upon me a good solid knowledge base to get started when I finally had my own space and cannabis was legalized here in New York and now I have been learning by trial and error! It is a fun and rewarding hobby.

I run a small 3 x 3 tent with a 400 watt [true watts from the wall] TIMBER brand Cob LED and use Fox Farms & Coast of Maine soil as my mediums. Emerald Harvest nutrient line. My own sweetener which is a mix of blackstrap molasses, barley malt syrup, and blue agave nectar mixed in equal parts and then mixed with equal parts of water. Hurricane hydroponics State of Emergency crystal bloom booster and also their cal/mag solution, plus coast of Maine liquid kelp and liquid squid plus a few other odds & ends. May incorporate CO2 w/ mushroom bags but not sure it is worth it to do so as my space is a tent not a sealed off room. I veg in a small closet under a 425 watt blurple which works great for seedlings & veg -- much better than the t5s my brother in law gifted me when I first got started, though they did do their job. lol

BIL has been growing clandestinely on an older fiend of his land for the past couple decades. They grow some pretty great shit and BIL and I share gardening tips and information betwixt us.

It is funny you mention Azure Haze. I just emailed Hazeman the other day and asked him if he has anything that smells like frankincense and he said as a matter of fact he does and to check out his *edit* Blue Dream x Azure Haze. *edit*

What's the difference between Azure Haze and Blue Dream? Are they not the same cross? I ask because I have never had Blue Dream that smelled of frankincense before.

Which breeder did you source your Azure Haze from and did it happen to have any sort of frankincense smell and/or flavor to it?

I want that DEEP flavor of hashish charas and frankincense! Lol

They are both blueberry x ssh, but different blueberry and ssh parents were used, meaning they are quite a bit different. Santa Cruz Blue Dream is a clone-only. Azure Haze is the Short family's attempt at recreating blue dream.

Blue Dream (the real, one-and-only clone) was never available as seed. It is an unknown blueberry crossed to an unknown ssh.

Azure Haze is a recreation of Blue Dream, but using a different blueberry and a different ssh.

Therefore, these strains are not the same. Blue dream is famous, was all people asked for at the dispos for a time. It is really good stuff, it deserves its fame.

Never had Azure Haze. I'll just say, it's not famous like the Blue Dream clone. As far as I know, no one's found/kept anything noteworthy from the Azure Haze seeds.

There's been a lot of people chasing old blueberry. I've smoked good blueberry. I've smoked blue dream. My .02 cents, just track down the santa cruz blue dream clone if you want something good that's reminiscent of the blueberry of old. The terps are similar, and the effect is similar to old school blueberry. A little more heady/floaty and a touch stronger than straight up blueberry

I’m testing a pack of Santa Cruz goat farms blue dream s1’s right now and they are coming along very nice and blueberry

Imo the true pre98/99 is extinct - because like you said, old cuts go bad, and for some reason ppl let them go bad instead of making seeds out of them (which I think can rejuvenate genetics/traits)

Glad to see you made seeds, I hope it does rejuvenate the flavor that's missing from today's blueberry.

I hold the pre98 in a special place in my heart, ppl who have only tried post 2000 blueberry don't understand why its such a unique strain.

Potency CAN be among the best, and flavor absolutely IS the best, bar none.

But until someone experiences the flavor, it sounds mythical....I'll never forget telling my boys about it and they didn't believe me until I finally got some and smoked them out, that was 20+ years ago and they STILL ask me if I'm able to get it lol

I’ve tried it myself the one we had taste of blueberry all the way through the joint and roach- also had purple hair or bluish hair on it but the taste and smell were remarkable- I’ve never came across it since and would absolutely stone you to the core.
