Boys Gone Wild

I wasn't aware that there was a way of determining if pollen is male or female. Is that what you are wondering?

looks like it could be......

XXY
XXYY
XXXY

i have my work cut out. i need to breed this out or i loose the strain.

cannabis has 10 pair of chromosomes. 1 pair determine sex. a female carries the XX chromosomes. males carry XY. hermies can carry extra sets.

if you take a female, XX, and using breeding techniques you turn a branch male. the pollen from that branch can only be XX. it carries no Y chromosome. this will give you "female pollen". using this pollen will give you feminised seeds.

Wow this is an intresting thread, Ill keep upadated on it...I never knew the pollen could be male or female =p. The Plant's looking good btw! Now off subject for abit does the current weather make the plants purple? thx.

cold weather will turn plants purple.:blsmoke:

How exzactly is it you find out what type of pollen it is, there has to be a method..I mean if you already knew about the chromosomes and how you can feminise a seed, then how is it you yourself tell if its male or female pollen?

So thats how they feminize seeds... intresting, i was just wondering about that the other day. Dude i dont get how no theifs can find your stash growing in your backyard. Thats nuts. you probably have had problems though.?.

So you have to take a female plant and turn one of the branches to a male, and then you use that pollen to pollinate the female that branch came from?

Is that correct FDD?

y'all realize you're in the "advanced forum". :)

yes, this is how you make feminized seeds. to turn the branch male there is a chemical that is applied.

slightly off topic here fdd, but i remember reading in someone else's thread about male/female seeds, you posted a chart and instructions on how to tell if a seed is female. (perfect "volcano shaped" indention, etc.) have always heard that there is no way to tell the sex of a plant from the seed. asked if this was the method you use personally when planting, but got no reply. could you please tell me if you were being serious or just messing around? btw, i tried it with two seeds and they are both female, so coincidence or not? will try to find the thread for reference.

:mrgreen::mrgreen::peace: guess it works.

at least for me, two out of two, not a large experiment, but worthwhile in my opinion. gonna check my feminized seeds when they get here (fingers crossed). also plan to do a large grow based on this theory to test it out more thoroughly.

i came acroos that chart one day and saved it. whenever the subject comes up i post it. people think it's mine. i've never even used it.
