Hard drives and magnets don't mix... Very pertinent to this thread considering walt and jesses truck fiasco at the police impound wiping gus' laptop.
The only reason they used one so big was... Access or lack thereof... You'd only need a small one to wipe clean an ipad Hard disk
you know (not that i can't google it) i was just thinking about what kind of hard drive an ipad has being it's basically a phone..
