i disagree but i agree i made the mistake with the shear amount of bs info on the internet. thankfully this forum and it's awesome users brought me on the right path.
Consider being new. Not knowing anything. You go buy some miracle grow time release because it grows plants 2xs as big! You put a seed in that shit, water the entire 5 gallon bucket you got from home depot with no holes drilled for drainage daily because... hey plants need constant water right?

So many easy problem that can kill your plants.

If you have never touched a garden it is easy to do everything wrong.

People don't get this factor. This is exactly why we have people join the site well after their plant is absolutely fucked to ask how to save it.

Then take the internet into that mix. Did you know if you Google when is weed ripe to harvest you will get the answer of when 75% of pistils are brown.....

Case in point

Same thing with “ scoping triches “ …. Most believe there is a particular “ time “ or ratio of amber. That is only part of the harvest puzzle. Maturity will be different across plant - tops / mains mostly ahead of mids and lowers. Some take the tops and let the rest of plant “ finish “. Even autos.

In my opinion ( this only a opinion) I don’t base it on you tube vids or bookworms…. To me , flowering / blooms starts after stretch - when budsites are setup . During that stretch transition I still feed veg nutes. But when stretch STOPS or SLOWS i move to a bloom only feed.

But every grower has their own interpretation

Wait. WTF is wrong with MG? They're going to be twice as big.

You always see a set amount of weeks for various strains to complete flowering. Is this the same whether it's indoors or outdoors?

Someone told me once (may have been here) that you start the countdown when you change the light cycle to 12/12. That makes no sense IMO, and even if true would not apply outdoors, It takes several weeks after changing light cycles to see white hairs/buds to start, which is actual flowering, The weeks in between are just a transition while the flowering hormone builds up
Not true always... I've had lots of pre flower for a few months

The Original OG... Pre 98 Bubba Kush. A twenty four year old clone being bred to itself for sequester... One of two
Short answer...Timing can be fudged but best early IMO

Lol I'm saying I have a cutting ✂ from a very old plant. That's legit and been vetted and kept at a location a very long time

One of many old cuts

Believe me when I say you got to be something special to stay in circulation that long

Interesting perspective and it makes sense of the "8 week flowering time".

Yeah I think early is great because you can control pollen far better and get some real good clean Bud's at the top still to verify quality of the grow. Especially anything pheno hunt from seed
I go for both these days... seeds in the larfy bottom and seedless on top
Plus you know they are mature enough before ripening

Your concept of flower time starting roughly at the end of stretch is smart and may be closer to correct than most measures.

Pistol ate visible around the beginning of stretch. Within days... With most cultivator... Male's take a bit longer to show usually

I think it really boils down to how much you want to seed the plants

If you do it right.. you get two seeds per Bud. That's what I shoot for. Both on the outside at the stem base

Yeah sometimes for sure. I need to verify quality and this is the best method

I got shit that's been steered from landraces seed into well known clones and then hunt it...

Especially rare sativa landraces if I can get my hands on them
I’m so confused. You have a clone only strain and need to verify it’s quality by seeding it? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a clone only strain since it’s quality has already been verified?

You have well known clones and then hunt it? Wut?
