Bud Hair Color?

Hey guys, at what age do the pistils begin to turn color? One of my plants, bagseed (probably indica/sativa mix), is just 40 days into flower (under 400w HPS) and just a few hairs on each bud are turning orange. Can't really tell in the pic I guess. Is this normal time frame, or could she be pollinated?

Anyone know? I did search the forum but no luck, is this a "strain dependant" kind of thing too?

Its hard to say really because it is kind of strain dependant,,,but I would be keeping an eye out for any stray hermie flowers...which unfortunately are often the reason bag seed is even there...because the plant went hermie and fertilised itself.... the flowers can hide out under buds and down in the pre flower nodes...they can be tricky little suckers.... really get in there and look for them.....if there are none then its all good :^)

Had to put her under some different lights to get some pics for a problem she's having, and lo and behold - the color changes are either waaaaay worse than it looked under the HPS, or it's accelerated. Still normal, or is she pollinated? Anyone have a closeup of a pollinated bud I can compare to?

I'm not sure why you are equating the color of your pistils with it being pollinated. Did you have a male plant in there that could have pollinated your female? A pollinated female will produce seeds. Do you see seed pods?

Your plant looks nice to me. Pistils will turn color. It's natural. Best of luck.

i wouldnt be to worried. you probably dont have a hermie unless you had some type of stress issue with your plants. the hairs can start to change color at pretty much any time with different strains.

Well, she's my very first plant, so I wasn't sure, but I had expected it to be closer to finish before any change like that. Secondly, my second grow was/is in there with her, out of 20 plants there were 15 males and three hermies - the last two are still there, but it occured to me that they are probably hermie as well, though I haven't found any sign on them I'm sure it's possible I missed something. That's why I was worried. Oh and I don't know what seed pods look like, this being my first lady.

Here is an example:

AK48 is a quick grow. She starts having the hairs turn at day 30 of flower. They are all red and receding by day 49 of flower. They are ready to harvest at day 56 of flower.

So basically a little over half way in they start to change yes?
