Spraying lysol around the house before opening the other jars cant be a bad idea??
Maybe a bit unnecessary, not a bad idea per se.
All the best and good luck.

Again, thank you for taking the time to help. I feel like I'm overthinking shit, but mycology taught me how aggressive and easily mold spores transfer around. I'm guessing the best I can do is what you said, because eventually I'm going to have to open the jars. And just hope that I'm not infecting other buds
Forsure, I was actually just reading about the live tissue thing. Makes me understand why the paper bag method is so popular. Now heres a bud from the same jar. This is frustrating to say the least. No flash bc battery is low, but no signs or mold at all. And there are no odd smells if that helpsYes but they need live tissue to infect and attach to. Hence why it's important to regulate humidity if you can and make sure the bud is evenly dry before you store it.
I figured out a protocol for next time this happens....isolate the bad jar and dont touch the rest. Because any attempt is futile bc you cant see spores lol. I just spent all day isolating buds from each other only to realize I never wiped my nose off after first initially smelling that bud with the bud rot . Fuck![]()
I definitely am. I thought bud rot was the death of cannabis. I assumed my whole stash is going to shit bc of what I've read. I appreciate the blunt honesty. I was legitimately freaking out.I think you're overreacting a little to be honest.
Bud rot is a part of life for some outdoor growers.
You are breathing in mold spores all the time.
Sorry about the rot, your other buds will be just fine.
Chuck out all the moldy stuff. Visually inspect the rest really carefully. Smoke at your own discretion.
I wouldn't smoke it, if it was everywhere and there was other herb. Making edibles would be totally fine.
I have absolutely no problem chucking that cookie jar full of weed away. And about mycology. I hardly remember shit. I just remember the absolute necessity to prevent spores from moving around and or creating an environment where its hostile to bad bacteria and mold spores. Anyway, that was a long time ago. I appreciate you guys for the help. I just have the one jar isolated in a bucket right now and the rest is back in my "dry/cure" closet. I was growing perpetually because I thought I had a plan (a legal one). But it never came to fruition. As long as I keep the rest of my stash in shape, I'll be good for a while. I'm taking a t break anyway after that mold scareI'm sure mycology also taught you about hyphae, and from that you can understand why it probably is best to just toss the infected jars. If you have enough stash to hold you over to your next grow, what's the issue? Moldy bud can cause long-lasting serious health problems and in some cases even be fatal. Why take the risk?

Thanks a lot for your advice. I'm just going to be playing things by ear. I've checked most the other buds and they seem to be great. My older harvests, ironically, are the ones that are in better shape. this was definitely a humbling lesson. If you read my post properly, that's what i suggest.
For what it's worth, i've had more than my fair share of edibles from weed i've had to sort like yours. No ill effects i can report on.
It's why i suggest not smoking it and only to use at your own discretion.
Imvho making edibles with it is fine. I would never "recommend" you smoke it. I want to make that absolutely clear!
Peace and have a good 1.
I didn't use my jewelers loupe, but I did shine a bright led at the buds I was inspecting so I didnt miss anything. Obviously I wouldnt be able to see spores though. When I suspect mold I get out one of my magnifiers and look at the buds. Mold looks hairy to me under magnification. Once you look at a few moldy buds and a few non moldy buds it is easy to tell them apart.
