Ok yall im going to document the building of my grow room and my first indoor grow at my home. As i post pictures and more comments on this thread i would appreciate feedback and ideas from all of you seasoned growers.

20130212_210424.jpg Here we have the start to my 8x8 grow room, at this time ive got the two back wal braces on and the last 2x4 for the front.
I have 100 feet of 6mm panda film on its way here by Tuesday.
After the film arrives im going to wrap the room cover the ceiling then put two 2x4s horizontally on the back braces then plywood for my instrument panel.
As for the setup im going to be running two 1000 watt hps hortilux eye bulbs for bud and a plantmaxx 1000 watt MH for veg. This is the only space i have at the time so all of the cycles will be in this one room until i can build a separate veg room... Im going to post in another part of the forum on whats going to be put in this 8x8 room. ALL FEEDBACK IS WELCOME!!! Ill post more pictures on this tomorrow.:weed::bigjoint::bigjoint:

Get a cheap 4x4 or 4x8 tent (hell, you really don't even need that) and use that for veg. Then put 4 1000 watts in there.

Might as well use the space you got!

Guessing your not looking to do hydro? Saves a lot of mess and work come harvest time.

Fuck your grow tent, real growers build their damn grow rooms. Either help with the question or move along. And I love soil! So take that as you will. This poster didn't mention anything about a growing medium so stick with the question or again, move on.

Looking good.

The only thing I see that might be an issue is the one side of 2x4s as the wall butting up against the metal vent. Might cause vibrations to carry noise.

Love panda! Cheap, easy to use and it works. Be sure to use duct or gorilla tape pieces to staple through so staples dont move around.

Not a fan of Eyes, over-priced and over-rated IMO, but you didn't go cheap there so thats good. What brand of ballasts?

You can always split the room to have a veg and flower now, but if you plan on building a separate veg room then I understand waiting. I build my rooms very similar to this and I started with one and now I have a total of six.
I only use 2x2s and 1x3s, I do use 2x4s to go across frames to hang heavier equipment like filters and fans. So you have one heavy duty room there.

I'm going to have to do a thread like when we build our new rooms.

The only pic of a room I have now is my dry room, here it is. Will be rating this thread excellent so keep it going. :hump:

It's "you're", and thanks. Awesome to have folks like you lurking around providing nothing.
Real growers build there grow rooms was super insightful on your part. And then you attempt to sound somewhat intelligent but pointing out my missed apostraphie. We see your kind here all the time. Still sucking on your mamas titty but trying to use the internet to appear to be an adult. Instead of making ignorant blanket statements throw up some pics and show how much of a real grower you are. If real growers grow in pieces of shit like you posted a pick of then I am content being a fake tent grower.

Im going to buil a 4x8 veg room off to the side with the extra lumber i have, as for growing mediums ive got 10 bags of roots organic dirt on the way with roots oraganics nutes.

I got all of my lumber from lowes they had the best pricing for my area, i originally wanted to go with 2x3s but two things steered me from them. 1 i feel they wont be sturdy enough for an instrument panel along with a frame for the 435 CFM fan i have on order, 2 lowes didnt cary them lol. obviously youve grown for a while im going to assume you grow under HPS? If so what brand do you use and how does that brand compare to The eye bulb?

No hydro here i like to stick with what i know, I have about 10 extra 8 foot 2x4s so im going to build a 4x8 veg room instead of buying a tent. Im on somewhat of a budget that ive already gone over as usual. thats why im starting out with the 2 1000watt setups for the time being.

Not one photo, not one journal. And you accuse others of being some sort of fake? You are laughable, for a short amount of time at least. You've been on here for 3 years yet I have about the same received rep you do after less then 3 months.

The room you refer to as a piece of shit is a dry room 6 1/2' high 5 wide 2 1/2 deep. Fits 2 lbs or more every month, works great.

Now I'm not going to show you pics of my home, setup and individual rooms, I plan to do a room thread end of year when we build our new rooms. But being you are obviously a child in need of some sort of treat I will post the following pics I took yesterday.
pics 1-3 are a veg/seedling/clone room in one, allows me up to 5 full plants for flower every 25-30 days. pics 4 and 5 are flower room II where they finish, all but one is a week away from chop. Flower room I was in darkness so no pics.

So now you can go in your corner and jerkoff or do whatever you do when your trolling is done.

LOL I'm 40 something! I'm a metalhead and I'm the nicest guy one could meet. My rep is where yours is after only 3 months. No punk gangster here, just a real dude with experience who doesn't take shit from others. I may have been a bit harsh on the "grow tent" comment but who the hell grows in a tent and isn't still living at home with mom? Come on. Real growers built their own shit.

i like the setup! looks real good! unfortunately for me i only have a ceiling of about 5 1/2 to 6 feet so im gonna need some midget plants to stick in my room.. i appreciate the views it looks real good.. as for the tents id rather build my own as u say... dont really want to pay for a tent and i felt so damned accomplished once i finished framing in my room lol.

ok the ballasts are 3 1000 watt ballasts 2 HPS and 1 MH all the ballasts are harvest pro ballasts.

ot my panda film delivered from ups today woohoo! havent had the time to start putting it up yet but i will start that tomorrow at some point. Most likely after a memorial service my wife and i need to attend.. more to come tomorrow yall.

Perfect size veg room. Roots is good, I've used Roots and Ocean Forest and both are near identical but I can get Ocean cheaper locally so I use that.

Honestly, we may go all 2x4s when we do the new rooms. Once the frames are built and screwed together even 2x2s are fairly sturdy but for a homeowner as I will be by end of year I may just go with 2x4s for that very reason.
I grow under T5s from seed/clone to mid veg, then they go under MH, then HPS only fo rflower. We did use both HPS and MH for flower but it did nothing positive so we switched back to all HPS.
I use Digilux and have just experimented with Lumatek bulbs. I use Lumatek digi ballasts only but have used magnetic switchable's in the past. With Digilux bulbs they have very high par lumens and are affordable. Brightest HPS by far. But the best deal with Digilux is the warranty. If they fail or blow within 12 months or are damaged in ship(I've only had them fail once, damaged in ship once) then all you have to do is take a picture of bulb like this

100_0417.jpg

with the cap piece removed. Then you fill out online return form pdf and send it through email to company, new bulb arrives about 10-14 days later.

Eyes are awesome bulbs, not doubting their power, just for me they seem way over-priced. I pay 44 for Digilux 400 MH or HPS and 59 for 600 watt MH or HPS and I just can't justify spending over 100 a bulb for an Eye. You have a great bulb but for less you can get the same quality and power.

Not a hydro guy either. We may experiment with DWC next year but I'm in no hurry as we will have a endless supply of soil on our property this spring/summer and have access to affordable FFOF. Nothing wrong with 2-1000 watts. lol That's a good ballast brand, they will probably be as quiet and produce almost as little heat as a digital. I think we used some sun system ballasts early on.

Enjoy the project! Much more fulfilling then grabbing a silly grow tent.

As for having only 6' ceiling down there you of course can top and lst(low stress training) to help with that. But you can also use paratrooper cord or even good clothesline rope to hang lights, and then have that cord/rope tied directly to fixture rather than to the hangers(saving you 6-10 inches). You then exit cord/rope out the top through drilled holes in the 2x4 that is used as a top support or whatever piece you have supporting lights, and guide cord/rope to the side of room where you can have basic drywall screws screwed into a 2x4 like this

100_0589.jpg

and secure lights by tying them in a figure 8 between two points like for docking a boat. This is a view from top of small T5 room but you get the idea. All you need to make sure of is that this piece is at a place where you can visibly see your lights canopy level so you can adjust them properly. Just a easy way to avoid yoyo hangers or use of light hangers period. Just get big enough drywall screws and drive them in far enough so threads are not exposed cutting into cord/rope.
We are just doing and trying all kinds of different things out so when we do new final rooms they are as perfect as possible.
