Can a mother plant be grown in a 5gl fabric pot?

Can a mother plant be grown in a 5gl fabric pot? If so, how long can it stay before it's root bound?...6 months a year? I use canazym rhizotonic for root maintenance and minimum fertilizer throughout the life.

It's going to get root bound regardless if it's a mother. You'll have to pay attention to water and nutes being careful, as always of course but more so here due to roots, not to overdo anything. Keep her well watered and trimmed even if you don't need clones yet. This will prevent the roots from wanting to push out further. If you keep her in humid conditions, since it's not flowering there's no real risk of mold, you can cut the roots back as well. Take a boxcutter and just square off the roots to about or 3 inches from the stem depending on size, put back in pot n add soil. Might slow growth but that's kinda the idea..

More specific to your question. If you plan to grow your mother for 6 months, how many clones do you want to take(at the end of 6 months) or do you take them little by little? A mother can grow in a 1 litre cup, priduction will be low and watering will be high as well as a closer eye needed on nutes. A 5 gal pot will maintain enough growth to plant a half acre of clones within 6 months, I'm half estimating but it does depend on your situation.

No clue why you want a mother as I go clone to clone, but...
I used to do mothers (cough) of herbs
You should pull the plant from time to time trim the roots and freshen soil
You can keep one forever

I think 5gallons is like a 12ltr bucket.. I've had my mother for 2.5 yrs but she sits in a 40ltre bucket. I can cut 80 clones of her every 3-4 wks if i needed to but i dont..

The tag on one of my mothers says July well we are approaching July again and she still sets in the same 5 inch square pot. All my mothers are in 5 inch pots. They require water everyday and trimmed up once a month (could prob use it twice a month). They start looking like shit if I let em get too big but as long as I keep em trimmed up and fairly small they do great. They get maybe 3 feet tall when they are too big and I cut em back to like a 1-1.5ft. The pots are filled with either coco loco or coco mixed with perilite depending on what I had at the time they were potted. They get the same nutes every day 500-600 ppm advanced nutrient sensi grow coco. Occasionally maybe once a month I’ll add cal mag. I am still able to pull at least 15 or more good clones from each mother. I have recently potted new mothers too so it’s a little crowded in there but I’m just waiting to run some cuts off one of my moms to make sure tags didn’t get switched out at some point. They didn’t, but I’m ocd about it kinda like going back to make sure the house door is locked when you know u just locked it.
