Can helicopters fly over and see a 400 hps running?

HEY GUYS NOT REALLY A NOOB BUT HEY,

1. IF A HELICOPTER WAS TO FLY OVER MY HOUSE COULD IT SEE MY 400 HPS LIGHT ? OR THE HEATING OF IT? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

2. AND I AM NOW VERY PARANOID OF PUTTING THE REST OF MY GROW JOURNAL UP WITH PICTURES, IT JUST SEEMS TOO WARRY FOR ME? SHOULD I FEEL LIKE THAT?

hi crippled guy,

i was going to post as a joke that the helicopters could spot me if i was smoking on the porch, but this post caught me first. damn.

anyway, a 400 watt light putts out less heat than a 400 watt heater, which is a really small space heater.

are the cops really going to check every house with a heater or even a big amp for the one in a million that has a 400 watt hps?

posting pics is fairly safe as long as you edit them in photoshop to remove the EXIM data. which is data added to the file about your camera and its settings and could contain camera serial numbers. also make sure you dont include background of outside or address or faces anything identifying. just the op itself no people or surroundings and remove the EXIM data and you will be fine.
like everyone has said its your exgirlfriend you have to worry about ... not pics on the net. you are safer telling us in annonymity than telling your best freind in real life

PS. oh yeah about the helo. they could probably pick me out smoking a joint in my back room but are they gonna know its not a cig ? they can see heat signatures but need other evidence to back it up ... ie: they would already need a reason to be looking for a heat signature to even bother looking. so dont do anything that would warrant them looking for you and they wont look for you

Police use cameras on thier copters called F-L-I-R ( forward looking infa red) That can pick up even the smallest heat signatures. If you have a grow room that produces a fair amount of heat they can see you from the air. (That includes your loft) Theyve been catching growers in the uk this way for years. Hope this helps and doesnt increase your paranoia.

MINE IS but the tube still gets quite hot after 45 mins (connected to
Inline Silent RVK 5" 225m³ hour), not so hot that I cant touch it but hot enough so that I cant keep me hands on it for more than 3 seconds.

Is this normal?


I know this question wasnt asked to me but its been bugging me for a while & had to ask someone LOL.

the technology that you have in question is called FLIR and in order for the government or local police to use this technology to scan your property a warrant is required. with that said everyone else is correct you are more likly to get popped by your friends or family running their mouths.

if they bust you for something like this any decent lawer can get you out scott free. these lights are sold legaly and the cops could be looking at a fat tomato grow op. this would be in no way probible cause for a search. at best it would be a reason for them to investigate you but just dont let any narcs in to take pictures of youre shit and you would be just fine. having a hot room in youre house proves nothing. buying lights and using mass electricity proves nothing. i personaly grow tomatos in my yard/garden and if i was ever asked i would stick to the "top secret tomato grow op story." basicaly worry abaout not showing or braging to the wrong people and the cops will never have a just reason to come in to have a look see.

That isn't quite all true, I worked on highly classified FLIR equipment for the government for years. They do not have the kind of resolution you think they do. The only kind of grows that FLIR is going to pick up are the really big 10,000 watt + ops with hundreds of plants. FLIR has no way of distinguishing what the heat signature is coming from, only that its hot, it could be anything.

DO NOT WORRY about the porkchoppers and their FLIR catching you with your 400 watt setup. its next to impossible to distinguish it from a large TV, a Compressor in your fridge, a space heater. No judge in the world would sign a warrant for your house on such a small heat sig.

Paranoia will destroy ya!

Im using "Photoshop CS3" where on the menu do I have to click to edit or erase the "EMIX DATA"?

Please reply this info is very important.
