The bulb is just standard flourescent...how much better would cfl bulbs do??
Can I get an opinion??

Will more light burn them? Yes I brought them in because I couldnt stand them getting over watered by the rain. I forgot the watts...

The light spectrum it emits 2700k for.flowering 6500 for veg
You badly need to lower that light - within 3 inches or so of the tops of those plants - AND - as previously mentioned get a few more CFL's on them.
Do you have a fan also ? A gentle breeze will help strengthen up the stems a great deal.
You may need to consider re-potting, and when you do plant them deeper, as in the dirt line can be up to the cotyledon's.

They'll be fine under more light, just don't let it get to hot or that will burn them.
& how long ago did you get the fluorescent lamp? If you still have the box or whatever it came in it should say wattage & kelvin on it...
It's pretty much the color of your light (warm white, etc..) Should say on the box or maybe even on the bulb somewhere.. 2500k, 2700k, 5500k, 6500k...
you want 5500-6500k for veg 2500-3000k for flowering.

Im a little hesitant to bury the stem because from past experience it dies. Im going to the store to get some cfls today!! Thanks guys!!!

Buruing the stem can be helpful if it stretches too much, just be gentle and make sure no dirt clumps squish your seedling.
And before you buy the cfl's, remember to check the box for kelvin, you'll want to get as close to 6500k as they have for veg.
*first time I bought bulbs I got 2700k incandescents XD didn't get too far with that grow.

5400 k cfls...10 inch fan.

You should really get those bulbs as close to the plants as possible - if they're a foot away you're just wasting electricity.
They don't get hot so get them within a couple of inches of the plant. They're screaming for more light. (That's why they are so stretched out).

I have found that to ensure a healthy growth you'll be about 70-80 watts starting out and as the plant(s) get larger after the first month you'll need to increase the lighting to 300-360 watts. I only run moms under daylight t-5's. Occasionally they are supplemented by a 400w/mh mercury vapor HID prior to taking snips.

NO,no,no. Get those lights closer. You have your seedlings so stretched, you have to tie it up. Get rid
of the table lamp, get a power strip, some bulb sockets that plug into the power strip, and screw your cfl';s into those and hang right over the plant. Get it as close as you can, but don't let it touch. Then get a fan blowing on them to strengthen the stems. You should not have to tie up seedlings.

I have 18 seedlings out, and we have gotten over 9 inches of rain the past week and a half and they are doing ok. Unless you have heavy soil, or are in a hole rain shouldn't hurt. More light is what you need it won't hurt em.
