That is the basis of the argument. Whether you believe that a higher power (although the reasons why there need to be a higher power are beyond me) has designed life... which also then asks the question which higher power designed the higher power that designed life.

Or, you listen to common sense and science, and believe that life is circumstance.

Space is expanding, it is not infinite.

I do not consider myself an elitist... it is not my fault that I that I have realised LIFE is the most prescious thing one can posess. That I know there is no god, no devil, only the propensity for good and evil within all human beings. It is we that wrote the bible... what would happen were a similar book to be written today, by a new religion, for a new god?

The new book includes a prophet named Ralph, who is visited by a god that calls itself Saddam... the rest of the book is run along the lines of the bible, with parables that show you the 'good path' in life, I mean they all do that. Would you believe it? Who, in their right mind, would?

We don't need to prove that a god exists, for that would be impossible. It seems we need to prove that one doesn't, which shouldn't be that hard. Unfortunately there will always be those that refuse to listen to reason.

The problem isnt that ur practically worshiping a book. its the legitimacy of the book. 20 centuries old. come on now. what would u do if u found out that kids were learning history in school from a 20-decade-yr-old-book?

For the universe to expand, it would have to have limits to it. but by definition, the universe is everything, including any possible limits and whatever is past them. just because scientists say that our universe is expanding, it doesnt make it true. although ppl dont like to admit it, our technology only allows us to know so much.

Yep yep yep. I was raised from birth till 17 in a very religous family. The kind that went to church tuesday, thursday, and sunday, about 2 hours each time, had a 2 hour long fam study at home on mondays, and spent 40 hours a month in house to house preaching. I was even home schooled. I understand the whole shoving down the throat bull, Had it done to me, and I used to have to do it to other inocent people, knocking on doors. They feel by doing this they save their own lives. I've been away from that for over 9 years now, and I know why people do that. It is very simaliar to why we smoke pot, it makes them feel better, they become addicted to it, truely believing in some stupid mysterious promise for eternal perfect life on earth that makes the whole no purpose in exsisting (life-death, then what?)alot easier to swallow. Possibilities are limitless! Think how much you would know after forever. I've heard, "I realy want to play guitar, but don't have time in this life, so I will do it after I'm dead", Or learning every profession on the planet. That is the way they handle their fears. It makes em happy, good for them.:peace:
I think it's a waist of life personaly.
But religion comforts many confused, afraid people.

The universe is everything. think about it. everything u know, and everything u will never be able to ponder. energy and empty vacuum. existence and nonexistence.

we dont even physically exist all the time. the atoms this world is composed of disappears constantly. scientists have said that these atoms, 50% of the time, when looked at through microscopes, arent even there.

we create the world around us. every single person has a different reality. the only universal truth is that perception is real. sadly, when a person speaks of solipsism, they are usually so upset and in denial of the world around them, they are usually considered mentally ill and their words carry little validity to those around them. but when u get right down to it, YOU are the only thing u can be sure to exist.

what u are, where u are, etc could go up for debate. but the fact that I am perceiving is obvious. everything u consider to be true after that is a decision on ur part (whether it be conscious or unconscious.)

so being that i am the creator of my universe, i find it natural to, instead of worshiping some cosmic babysitter and begging his forgiveness over something i had no part of (original sin,) celebrate and worship myself and what pleases me. some call it hedonism, some call it satanism. i call it common sense.

most people feel good for helping others. just because somebody isnt christian doesnt mean they are immoral. infact, i believe that if u need incentive of everlasting tranquility to be a nice guy, ur more of a 'sinner' than i am.

Let me say that I do believe in some form of creator. Believing in god and being religous is soooooooo different. Religion makes him out to be evil. Why can't the creator be alittle part of everything beatiful and wonderful, the water that dews on your plants in the spring, that goergous bud you have growing in your room. Whatever! Why should anyone realy care if you can't even understand it. I sure as hell can't! I have NO IDEA WHY I"M HERE! What? Love, sex, and getting high, the rest is just filler. Maybe. There is no reason as far as we know, or can be prooven, we are here then we are gone. I don't want to talk bad about the creator, just in case there is more than we realy know. But I am not going to spend my entire life waisted on hoping and spending soooo much time expecting something that could just be fairy tales.
So since I can't see him, he could be anyone or anything.

Come on now (lol) who the hell realy knows? It's all about what makes you feel good, what comforts or makes sense to you? I don't think anyones beliefs are all that different. It's all about each individuals mind, and experiences that will decide.

The way i see it, i belive in god. No questions about it. But i also see where some deception in the bible is. Many stories just dont seem to fit. Many books are excluded. Jesus rots a tree that doesnt produce figs? this one doesnt seem to fit with the ol' jesus. So i do definatly belive that the bible has been taylored and dismembered and many teaching left out. But there are some good teaching in there. For all the people who arnt religious and dont belive in jesus as a savior etc. etc. then belive him as a man. Which he most certainly was and this is a proven fact. maybe as a teacher or even a smo on the street, a stoner, who happened to say a some really cool things. Some things that made you think. Some things that if we all read every now and then we might be a little better off, eh?

But what it comes down to for me is be who you want. Belive who you want. I belive in god, but im cool with gay marrige. Im cool with evelution, i belive that much of the bible is metophorical.

it is said jesus taught useing metephors... so as for the adam and eve thing... coulnt it just be a metephor he used to help slightly uneducated people of the time understand and issue? (what that issue is i dont know, find out for yourself, i havnt thought about it enough)
lets just all be tollerant of each other... no i feel sorry for you, you should pray more, youll be in an assain asylum etc. etc. Belive what you want, dont force it on others.

P.S. one thing, to clear up the issue brought up before about all the other religions being left to "damnation" heres the deal. Christians belive as stated by the pope, that all who are good are welcomed into the kingdom of heaven. jews, hindus, muslims, atheists, etc. etc. what they (we) belive is that if these people have practaced good lives even in the absence of our god that when brought before the creator will come to understand what they were unable to understand on earth. so ghandi for example, would go to heaven in our view. When he saw god he would realize god was true and belive. but thats our view on others. Me? i think heavan is what you want it to be...

nicely said md. i enjoyed reading your post because it breaks the currently observed trends of thinking that have polluted humanity for untold years. i think the funniest stories in the bible when elisha curses the rude children (who called him bald head) in the name of the lord and 2 she bears came out of the woods and mulled 42 children. or when whatshisname says things like "happy is he who dashes her babies upon the rocks" bahaha thats funny

This is the type of stuff i used to always think about when i was fucked up. (preoccupied delusion) i try not to nowadays, it tends to piss ppl off.

its cool to talk about this shit every once in a while tho. at least to know what u believe in. most of us arent really trying to convince anybody else, just trying to vocalize our thoughts to strengthen our own beliefs.

my argument is clear. no confusion on my part. I understand perfectly the confusion you believers are experiencing right now. It must be pretty confusing to have your beliefs publicly aired and people mock them.

Your beliefs are false and you know it. Whether you'll say it out loud or not, deep, deep down you know your beliefs are false.

You say you cannot KNOW... yet I do. Does this make me better than you believers? Maybe not, but what it does give me is peace of mind. It enables me to concentrate on bigger aspects of life... like the truth.

i do not have any faith in a higher being/creator, but i think ur blatant hate towards those who do is very unhealthy.

so i challenge u to (re)state 5 points (hell, go crazy. jot down 15, 20 if u want) that prove there is no god. and i will take your previous position of discrediting these points. interested?
