Can you use Styrofoam Instead of Perlite?

hey kinda short on cash and was wondering can i brake up a Styrofoam cup into small pieces and mix it in my soil instead of perlite?

Perlite is really cheap 5.00 for a small bag 20.00 for a big bag. I wouldnt recomend putting styrofom in the soil.

i would have to say most likely no!

im not even sure if it soaks up water
cause i buy drinks in cups made of it
and my drink never disappears
