Canuk seeds and flower time accuracy?

Hi All, I am new to growing and working to select my genetics and want to get very good quality. I came across Canuk Seeds, which seem to be good. But I was reading the reviews of folks who grew the seeds and they all mostly stated that the seeds took longer to grow than stated. The one said 42 days and most said it takes 8-9 weeks. Is that common for that company to exaggerate the flowering cycle? If it says 42 days, then it should be close and honestly stated. If a company will lie about the small stuff, who knows what else they may be untruthful about.

Or should I buy something like Dinafem, where many reviews were on par with the expected flower time as stated?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Many things contribute to the exact length of a flowering cycle, particularly the various attributes of the environment they're being grown in.

Can you please post the exact wording of the claim of 42 days, along with the specific strain that it's claimed on? There's a significant discrepancy between 42 days and 8-9 weeks, but without knowing the specific wording, we're only guessing.

It is not in the best interest for a breeder/seed bank to wildly over-or-under state flowering times.

I suspect that they mean that after the plant reaches full sexual maturity (which can take 1-3 weeks after switching to 12/12), that it'll take an additional 42 days beyond that to complete.

You could always email them and ask specifically when that 42 day countdown begins.

Flowering times from seed companies are just loose guidelines. There are many variables which effect plant growth and flowering time. The biggest being your grow environment. Breeder times are usually based on the best phenotype the breeder found in THEIR grow conditions.

As a standard rule I suggest basing all flower time expectations from the point that flowers actually begin to form, and take them with a grain of salt. In the end the plants won’t be finished until they are finished.

I have been growing a White Rhino by Canuk for over a year now. One seed many plants :).
I have been treating it like a full 8 week flower. Though it says 6 week.
Trichomes were milky at 8 but still not turning amber. Smoked great! didn't put much size on in the last 2 weeks though.
I'm going to be trying a 6 week harvest of it in a week or so and can update with more info.

Lot of the time when they say "8 week flower" they are meaning 8 weeks after you can see sex and bud forming not the day you flip from 12/12 forward...

I always wondered about that.
Kinda figured the whole as soon as the lights flip you start counting a little silly.
If that is the case then I would say its bang on as far as how long it takes.
The harvest is definitely not huge with this strain. Though the bud you get is unlike anything else i have grown.
Small buds but rock hard. Like little deer poops hahahahaha
Amazing smoke and out of all the strains it is the pound for pound best im my books.
I have grown better producing weight wise but all in all is awesome.

Myself and a friend have both bought from TNSB recently. They mixed up the couple of free bonus seeds i had wanted but otherwise got everything else I ordered as expected and in a timely manner. I currently have two Canuk Quarter Pounder autos and a Canuk Magnum auto (all Feminized) 4.5 weeks old, all just starting to show pistols last few days. And then i just popped a Canuk Cookie and Obi-Wan Kush couple of days ago. All the seeds popped no problem and all the auto's are Fem as advertised. Only issues so far are of my own doing lol.
