Does anyone use the cheaper/generic Filters found on Ebay and Amazon?
What kind of Filter do you use and how big is it; does it work good enough for you?
How many plants and what size of room do you use it in?
Also if you DIY how much Carbon do you use? How much was the total cost of making?
If you bought a Brand Name or Generic what was the cost?
I use a Can-filter 2600. It was $100....
Gromedics 4x2x5 tent
2 "The Purps" from BC Bud Depot
Works amazing, highly recommended.

Cool thank you much for the replies all. All this information definitely helps me and hopefully others wondering the same.
I found what seemed to be a Phresh Filter 4" x 12" on ebay for $55 shipped, so I ordered one.
My room is only 111 cu.ft. so the 4" x 12" should be plenty.

I am still interested in what people use and what works as I spent more time trying to research Carbon Filters than any other piece of equipment in my grow. It just seemed to me that getting rid of the smell is more important than lighting and fans simply because the smell is what can get you noticed.
Thanks again all and keep the information coming.

I only have one stinky WW in flower, but I have a 6" x 24" Phat Filter. Found it for $120 shipped. Have a 6" vortex on there with speed control. This setup leaves my room smelling very fresh.

6" mountain air carbon filter, 6" rvk fan, 6" reg duct, fan controller. - 2 Air cooled reflectors.

all good, slight humming sound from fan but sorted by covering adjacent wall with celotex insulation. Slight rushing 'air' noise heard from outlet vent when fan speeds up.

looking at those foothill filters.. I do like the foothills stand-alone with the fan on it. At least it wouldn't have to worry about it slowing my exhaust down. So, it says the carbon layer is 1" thick. hmmm... typical commercial filters are 2". So, for those who are using the foothills filter, how many plants do you have and with which model? Just have three ladies who are starting to stink up the place. Another side benefit of that model is if I place it next to my passive intake, then all that air is scrubbed too.

650 cfm 6" carbon filter with a T-200 soler & Palau 8" inline fan on the 450 cfm "lower setting." Big difference a couple hours after I put it in!!

I've got three of the foothill filters.
One is a 12" for a 4" fan. That is for my small cab with the 400w HPS
One is a 12" for a 6" fan, that is on the air cooled hood to prevent any stray odor coming through hood. This is for my tent with a 600w HPS.
One is a 16" for a 6" fan, that one is for the tent itself.

I've been very happy with the Foothill Filters.
