Thanks for the heads up, I am so glad I didn't go with any premade LED now. At first it was the MARS II, then some others, then the Platinums I thought about pretty hard. It is hard to make a comparison of all of them on the market and most of them would cost me an arm just to switch over. I figure these CREEs will cost me about 3500 all together but that is a rough idea as I haven't figured out everything I needed. I just know the cobs themselves will be around $2500ish to replace 4 1k HIDs.
I can't wait to see how much cooler the room is, I knew this summer I was only going to be able to run a couple lights from the heat but now I think I can run them all if I switch over. At first I may only replace 2 of them until the budget allows to replace the others.

Still curious about my 35 watt differential, I'll get mine tmrw, so I'll shoot you over info on maybe I burned one or maybe he accidently gave me a cxa

I'm having a really hard time deciding between the 500 Watt models from Optic Lighting..

created a thread here <--Link

if some of you all could please hop over and give me some advice.. I'd appreciate it!

niiiiiice thread here, looks kinda empty now but i have two hlg-185-c7's from what it looks like on here i should be running eight of the 3590 at 36v per driver?

Yes you could run 8 cxb 3590 3500ºk 36V CD on each and have a great, efficient and with a very good spread lights/pannels!
Are those a or b version?
Have a great day ★

right now i'm running them with some Vero29 35K, was running two per driver then realstylez was tellin me i could run all four on one so that's what's going on now. I'm still trying to decide if i liked running them harder or softer, but they are pretty awesome either way.

They are the A i think (have the screw adjustment).
I want to fill a 4x4 tent with these lights, how many do you think i need to REALLY light up that area?? use both drivers and run 16??

also i saw some panels you made that looked like they just had the cobs taped on there. is that all you did? you think they run fine like this?

You should aim for 30w sq/ft in flo with cxb 3590 3500ºk 36V CD...so since you have 16sq/ft you need 480W and you have a bit more than 400W...
But in your case if you put 16 cxb underdriven I believe the very high efficiency compensate the lack of watt...
16cxb in a 4x4 is my goal, but with a little bit more watt (800w)
Have a great day ★

ok gotcha, so pretty much 16 cobs and 800w for a 4x4 will make me happy? so you think it's the same for the Vero29?

so you are trying to run them like i was running 4/that driver, yeah i'm sure that would be lit for sure. On a chart i saw Supra put up it made it seem like the vero29 and cxb3590 were about equal in efficiency. what do think about the two? as i feel like I'm going to just get 3 more veros as i have 5 now and that would fill up one of my drivers. then for the other i'm thinking of going cxb

Where did supra said that vero are equals in efficiency than cxb!???
I wouldn't bet on this...at least at equal Amps...
I am pretty sure that @1400mA vero29 are under 50% efficiency
On which driver you are going to run 8 vero29?
And maybe 600w of cxb 3590 but@1050mA should be equal in ppfd to 16 @1400mA (I believe 6 cxb 3590 would fit on the hlg-185-1050...so 18 cob...but 16 is a perfect match for the 4x4...dilemma!
Have a great day ★

Ok , for all this nice knowledge , but what about in term of yield plz ??

Its like Cob efficiency vs Hps intensity ..... Lumen Vs PAR

Cob = less intensity but an better spectrum and more light usefull
Hps = Big intensity but less PAR due to lost energy in heat

Example :

600W MH for grow and 600W HPS for bloom

VS

350W Cob vero 29 or CXB3590 one config at 1.2A ( so bout 8 cob ~45W each )
other at 2.1A ( so 4 cob , ~80W each )

with my Hps Philips son-t+ and sumaster 600W Mh i do an average of 400gr on 6 plant ( 60gr+ each plant ) , in soil , 11 Liters pots, 1 meter tent ect ..

So better to run Cob at typical value 2.1A or under run them 1.2A ? which one will equal approximately 600W hps results ??

If you will say , i will need more power with cob , like 600W , due to the price , i will prefer stay with HPS light

I assume that 400w of cxb 3590 3500ºk 36V CD perform better than a 600w hps!
2 pannels...700 $...400W and same result...regarding to your result with hps you should aim gpw!
And 4 cxb 3590 3500ºk 36V cd would fit an hlg-185-1400b perfectly
Cxb get better and better when underdriven...I would prefer (LOVE) 8 cxb 3590 36V on an hlg-185-700b(200w) but it is more expensive...
You said you have a square meter...so 3.3X3.3=10/11sq/ft ×30w=300/330w for you area...so 400 should do the job!

I'd say it's close to 800 watts hps depends on the reflector used bulb and ballast. Figure 25% light loss in an aircooled reflector.

Since I saw with my eyes what 4 cxb 3590 @1400mA can do...I don't know what to expect!!?
I was planning to put my 4 X 50w(200w)pannels over a 3.5X3.5X4.5 so about 12 sq/ft...30X12=360W...with my chinese spots 54w (22w) X6=132W...332w...I would have been ok...but with mylar everywhere in the room...I fell like i have enough light atm and I want to try cxb alone in my box...
With 8 like this @700mA it would more than perfect.
Have a great day ★
