Cbx Series cobs. Cumulative info and comp.

Fortunatly for them I got 3 free cxa, so I wont go blabbing or discouraging thier business. they made it right in the end. weather I feel like they attempted to swindle me or not, they made right and I still got a benefit from it in the form of cobs I can use.
 
Thanks Supra for the info. It is greatly appreciated. 51% efficient for the entire grow room... that has me feeling good after I get this all put together. I know the grams to watt don't add up evenly, but generally I am somewhere around the .75 gpw with HPS. That is a rough estimate though, I never measure everything exactly just a good rough idea.

Supra, what type of drivers do you think I should go with? I want something efficient. I don't know how much it matters with them.
Price matters, but I am not going to be a cheap ass on this. Best ones for the price. Running at 1.05 preferably.
 
Glad you got it resolved LF, maybe run with 2 3590s on that string until you get yor new ones?

DF, .75gpw is very good for HPS IMO. That is inline with Greengenes results. My best was only .57gpw but I was using the cheapest generic 600W bulbs possible.

HLG-185H-C1050, 94% efficient and can drive (5) CXA3070 or (5) CXB3070
HLG-120H-C1050, 94% efficient and can drive (2) CXB3590 or (4) CXA3070 or (4) CXB3070
 
Thanks again. I doubt I go with the 3590s. Honestly I haven't looked into them much. I was set on the CXA3070 a couple months ago after reading as many of your posts as I could. Then recently I have been planning on actually ordering some stuff soon and seen they have the CXB3070's now. I forget a lot of what I read back then so I am sorry if a question I ask is obvious to everyone else. I just figured since you were here I would ask ya, and it is much appreciated. Should I look into 3590s?

Since I plan on running 8-9 3070s on each panel I make then I guess I will probably use the HLG-185H-C1050 . Will I need to run 10 Cobs if I use 2 of them, or is it possible to use 2 of them on only 9? Probably a dumb question, I need to look into this some more tomm.
 
And it's not always .75 that is just a good rough guesstimate. Sometimes it probably is .6 or so. The key is having as even of canopy as possible. Don't really matter if you grow a bunch of plants really small, or a few huge bushes like I like. At least it has always worked for me. I used to SCROG, but anymore I just top a couple times and bend/break the branches into where I want them. I am hoping to keep about the same yield as I get now, or at least 1.5 pounds per 600 watts of LED. I hope they really do blow the HID's out of the water. I will be able to get at least 2 pounds per 600 if so. I can't wait to let you know here in a few months. I haven't seen very many large builds like I am wanting to do. All together I plan on replacing 4 HID's, so around 2600 watts of LED in a 5.5 x 12 room.

Do you think I should stick with just 3000k , or should I add some 5k in there too? I am also going to build a veg light, except it will be all one panel and probably around 4-500 watts.
 
the iussue with that will be they will run at higher watts on those due to it being 200watts/5 cobs vs /4cobs. I think that puts ur efficiency at different ratios but okay still. supra should confirm

dr 5k is veg so only if u plan to buy and build it before you order again. then yea get some. otherwise, i doubt theyd boost your flower to much. you could put it in and see how they respond lol. some peeps(cough real cough style cough) were looking at cxb3590 3500 not sure the whole reasoning but im sure he has justifiable thoughts behind it.
 
Thanks my friend. That makes sense, I am just going to have to research it tomorrow to figure out what drivers I need to order to match up with my plans.

I almost went with the Mars II a long time ago, but im glad I didn't now. They have great prices but I bet their efficiency isn't much better then an HID ? Either way not a bad deal for the price.. just not what I am wanting in an LED. I really am curious at how other LED's compare.

Do you have a chart of the efficiency Supra? Lately I have also looked into Platinum grow lights. Looks like the best bang for the buck if you buy a regular panel like most people.
 
literally I feel like ur 3 months behind me DR I had the same question they answered me yea the mars will produce but it produces immense heat lol. way more then these cobs. I think that the one heat sink panels are best for large cobs, because they will easily level the lights for an more even distribtuion. I went with single cooled, but will prolly do what real and others are doing in the future. Just personal advice lastly. I would always go for the bigger bang. Id say go cxb3590 w the 120h for 40$ a piece on ebay. it was really good cost efficiency when supra ran the nubers for me. Highest possible with driver and cob prices at the time. I dont the driver prices moved but the cobs dropped a few bucks too lol.
 
What are the markings on the cxB3070. I just got 12 from jerry and 10 are the old 3070N in black. And 2 that are B3070N in gold. I'll have to wait to tomorrow to hook a few up and get voltage.

I got a few 3590 a week ago that are the B3590R.

I am sure I will research a lot more before I actually order, or build but you guys are a huge help and save me a lot of work and trying to find different threads. I don't have much time tho, I figure I will be ordering within the next couple of weeks.

That's what I heard on the Platinums as well, except they are much cheaper it seems. I thought about getting a bunch of their P450s instead of building these Cobs but I really doubt their efficiency is even close to what I can build for cheaper. If I bought 6 or more of them they are $459 each after discount code. And are 274 watts, I was going to use 2 of them to replace each 1k like I am doing with these Cobs. I really am curious how efficient they are, but I am still wanting to build my own.

I am gonna have to look into the 3590 some more. It seems like they were harder to use for some reason over the 3070s? Something was different that turned me away from them but I am not sure what it was. I guess I need to look into them some more.

And yea what I was thinking about doing was adding maybe 1 5k per every 10 or so 3k. Probably a waste, so doubt I do it. But thought I would bring it up and see if anyone else has done that.

Yes I know. Just trying to avoid mounting and pasting if it's wrong and we know their only markings. And taking apart a current one to do it as I have nothing additional to what's in use, drilled and tapped yet. I guess I can use a pad and just swap a currently ready sink.

you can probably apply the voltage long enough to measure w/o the heat sink, imho
 
I didn't take a picture of my 3070's, but I can take a look when I get home and see if I can read anything under the ideal holders...

My 3590's DEFINITELY say B3590R on them and I assume based off the delays that mine were in the first runs... Definitely make sure they're marked accordingly.
 
Platinum is not rebranded advanced lighting. It is garbage and is trying to steal customers from advanced with an inferior product. Avoid.

The best advice anyone can give you regarding premade led fixtures:

If it seems too good to be true...it definitely is.

Any questions, throw it up here before you buy anything and somebody will point you in the right direction.

I am not at all sure, those are even real Crees for $40 a single. Buy a fake one and it could be a disaster and it would be hard to know at first.

You would not get the efficiency or the output of a real Cree. But, you might think you are until you measure power consumption and use a light meter. Tiny little manufacturing details is what puts Cree ahead of everyone right now.

They have only just become available to the Cree distributors and the best I found was $50.50 at kingbrite.cn I just got 16 of the CXB3590s shipped out.

But, they are $86 a single at Mouser.

@Greengenes707 PSh idk what mine are, but they resolved my issue and told me to thtow em away, the od thing about the whole convo, but again the wattage is WAYYYYYY off on the 2 different strings meaning that somehtings diff, and the only way they have been diff is those markings. IT took alot of time to take it apart and test and all that, the wago connectors saved me hours im sure! but either way they made it right in a way that most american companies wouldnt. free shipping free cobs and responded and resolved within a couple hours, meaning they are otw here now! digikey is rediculas if I had to deal w them through this, I am sure it would have been a nightmare.
