Central NY grow….first time (Brothers Grimm genetics)

So here’s the deal….as of right now I have four plants growing, 3 outdoor and 1 indoor that I plan on finishing outdoor when the hours of light start to diminish. I live in an apartment complex so I’m not able to grow outside here and don’t have enough space for an indoor grow tent. I’m lucky enough that my girlfriends cousin has a house and a back yard where she has grown in the past….i gave her some seeds and offered to help with her plants if I could grow a few. At the moment I have a Cinderella Pineapple, Apollo 11, and a Cinderella Purple (indoor) all from Brothers Grimm. I was also given a Blueberry plant from my GF’s cousin (ILGM genetics).

My outdoor set up is pretty straight forward, they’re
all in 10 gallon smart grow bags with ocean forest soil….next time I think I’ll do half OF half HF as I had slight burn on A11. My plan is to start feeding with Advance Nutrients in the next two weeks, doing a hybrid grow appealed to me.

I’ve been going and checking on the plants once a week and plan on going tomorrow to check on them so I’ll try to get some pictures….tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I’ve moved them outdoor. Apollo and Pineapple have been LST’d since last week and I plan on starting with Blueberry this week. Tuesday Purple will be 3 weeks old and I plan on transplanting her into a 1 gallon pot this week. Purple is being grown on my kitchen counter under a 40w full spectrum LED with a fan and just tap water….she is in FFHF. I know this is a micky mouse set up…but it’s been working and I really enjoy having a plant in my apartment that I can look at and watch grow. I love these plants….I’ve experimented with them since I was a teenager in windows and I’ve actually grown some high grade bud…..super small harvests though as you’d expect. These experiments allowed me to learn and see how these plants grow and express themselves differently.

Last but not least…Purple on my counter just kicking ass….this thing is a tank, super compact and vigorous. These came from a test pack from Brothers Grimm (Purple Urkle x C-99 backcrossed with C-99). Apparently these have some great Pheno’s in the test packs…not sure of all of them but this one is super indica for sure. She showed purple from day one….all new growth has a purple hue then it’s turns dark green…super cool plant: View attachment 5402383View attachment 5402384

My photo period seeds all sprouted mid may , theyre gonna be 8 weeks old in 8 days .

these gorilla glue mothers have been topped 3x and butchered for clones , and a few today stretched out to 6 foot tall in 10 gallon fabric pots with coco .

I’m doing a run of autos this week , to pack one last harvest into my 20x10 greenhouse , and have a few autos finishing over the next 3-5 weeks as well.

im lucky enough to work and grow on a licensed farm. .

love seeing fellow New Yorkers growing ! For years we all had to gorilla grow in the shadows !

Very nice DoubleD, your girls look super healthy!! Yea, the legality of things had kept me from doing a legit grow for many years…it feels good being able to grow freely now. I agree with the heat and lack of rain, has given me a lot more control in regards to watering and now, feeding. Have a question….when in the day do you usually top your plants? To me it makes sense to do it later in the day/night for stress reasons.

it didn’t phase them one bit . Within a week , they had tripled in size horizontally , as well as a good chunk vertically .

last year I planted my gorilla glue on may 5th , and they were all 12-15 ft tall , and the heaviest yielding plants I’ve ever grown .

I also have some exotix genetics greasy runtz , that were all topped once - also in coco , in 10 gallon fabric pots . They’ve received the same nutrient treatment as my gorilla glue - but they’re so indica heavy , that they’re literally 3-3.5 ft tall , bonzai bushes . They 100% have to be defoliated every 1.5-2 weeeks to promote more growth .

here is a picture of a few , after the sun had gone down about two weeks or so ago . They say this strain isn’t the best for outdoor and should only be grown indoors , but it was the best smoke I’ve ever had and I lucked out and found a pile of feminized seeds in an elbow at my boss’ dispensary ! The pheno hunt is on , and we’re down to 78 mothers - all very similar in size and stature . Can’t wait to see the end product . Also I have some picture of the gorilla cookies from a week ago . I really need to get up to date on some of these - but they’re gonna yield 2x heavier than these Girl Scout cookies . They’re wrapping around the pots , with lst clips , and just stacking branches . Also the gorilla cookies are in a homemade soil . Advanced sunshine mix #4 with myco , and lucky dog k9 cube 50/50 . Dolimite lime , blood meal , worm castings , and gaia green all purpose . With a top dressing of roots organic uprising . I can’t wait to get some pictures in the next week or so when they really stretch out , and start stacking trichomes !!
back in the day we used to have to buy hundreds of dollars worth of the water absorbing crystals , to keep plants healthy , in spots where hauling in water was not an option . We actually got creative and did sort of a deep water culture outdoor grow . Used a 10 inch thick piece of styrofoam painted green , with a 5 gallon bucket , tons of drilled holes in the bottom 3 inches of the bucket - we cut a circular hole so the bucket sat down into the styrofoam “also painted the bucket green” . We Took them out to the beaver huts and muskrat dens in the swamps in a canoe or by waders , and tied them off and let them float. we ended up with great results , and that swamp water must’ve been an all in one sort of fertilizer ‍ I certainly don’t miss the days of hiding , but it sure brings back some great memories .

It’s tricky growing up here. We receive 2.2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours . My autoflowers were moved inside for two days to avoid that high humidity , torrential downpour .

I have a close family member who grows 3+
lb plants yearly . He like chemdawg, northern lights , and permanent marker .

he feeds with chicken manure from the Amish solely through veg and has the biggest plants I’ve ever seen in person !
I watched them spread chicken manure and plant corn a month ago , and that corn is 4+ ft tall in 30 days .

I may have to go see if I can buy a trailer load for next season , because everyone seems to love it that uses it .

also one last thing , up here near the border we get hammered with rain always at the end of flowering . I suggest a battery powered leaf blower - and spend 20-30 minutes 2x a day to blow excessive moisture off your ladies . This coupled with BT spray for caterpillars has kept me bud rot free for the last 3 years runningsView attachment 5407027

I’m excited to see though how it affects the plant. I’m losing a cola but that energy might just spread out through the bottom branches and yield the same or who knows even better ? .. i also schwazzed two of my autoflowers “risky considering the effects we see on photoperiods “ but i like trying new stuff all the time .

for the record , we are still transplanting clones in the ground for the record , I doubt they’ll get much past 3-4 feet but every bud counts .

those plants look super healthy buddy , they’ll double if not triple in size during the stretch

Be warned collecting seeds is almost as addictive as growing it once ya get started bro I already got more than I will ever need yet I still want more there's always one ya can't find then you can get it eventually i think more than half the folk on riu have or end up with this problem there is worse problems to have I suppose though

Haha yea….i already have over 30 seeds….5 different strains…..but I want to get some old school strains that may not be around forever. I’ll just keep them in the fridge/freezer. I’ll end up giving some away I’m sure.
