I currently have x3 40w, and x2 23w, 4 inch Ventech exhaust with 4 inch ducting.

The only thing I can think is that it's in a closet most of the time with door closed but it's 70-72 in bedroom. But I thought lots of people grew in closets with no problems.
Small fan at bottom and all 3 passive intakes open on bottom. size is about 36"×20" with height of 55" (estimate)

Subscribed! That's almost the exact same size as my wardrobe, and the same ambient temp as my place. I currently have 4 40w lights, a 4" scrubber, and a 3" intake. My temp stays at about 82. My plan is a second intake, and possibly a second exhaust fan. My exhaust fan isn't very powerful so it doesn't flow a lot of air, but I can only fit a 4-5" fan in the top section. When I switch to flowering next week I'm adding the light fixture in the photo (see below) and I'm concerned about temps too. I'll have a 96w T5 fixture, four 23w, and four 40w bulbs, so I'm.certain that'll make some heat, haha.

Please update with what you do for a solution. Good luck!

Maybe is the main reason of problems in fans?

How big are the intake holes. You need at least double the exhaust in a passive system. I would have two if not three 4 inch intake holes.

That 4 inch should do it. I'm running 432 watts of t5 in a 2x4 wardrobe. Its sic foot high but I'm not using all the height.

That's your problem. Heat rises. Exhaust the heat from the top. You have to actually remove the hot air.

Tommy, what strain are you running?
My white widow gets strong and reaches towards light when below 81 degrees. When it gets above about 82 it gets VERY droopy looks like a completely different plant.

Bb and tura, I think you're right, I ordered x5 dc 12v fans and another box fan 10" to supplement intake. I have 3 intake holes, 2 being 12"x7" and one 15"x7"

are you positve that its just heat causing your ww to droop? I use to grow ww and my temps were up around 87 ish and it did fine. obviously did better when I dropped my twmps to around 75-80

I'm definitely not positive as this is my very first plant, but I think it at least has an influence. Also, I have a cool mist humidifier and it makes it around 40% and I know it used to be way lower before I added it.

I'm growing OG Kush. Its was up at 85°F for a couple days and they looked great. The only time it gets droopy is for about 2-3 hours after wattering. The photo below is right after watering, temp at 84°F

Good info BB. I exhaust from the top based on logic and intake from the bottom. Ill add 2 more 3" intakes and see what happens. Perhaps there is too much static vacuum with just one 3" intake hole.

This was my solution, building a new flowering room from pvc and panda film with a 20" huge and not so quiet box fan but it keeps it 82-84 Avg with max of 86 through the first night. So much better than my closet.
I'm probably going to use closet for veg station with x4 23w 6500k cfls and I monitored it only got to 84. So this is th first night cycle to this setup but so far for 9 hours it's been a success...
TommyCat, def want to hear back from you and your results especially after adding the light for flowering cycle.1449836820915621304468.jpg 1449837030061-1256391941.jpg

I have the same thermometer. 9 bucks at home depot. Lol.

I was laying.in bed last night thinking about the heat issue, if its too high after adding intake ports, im going to modify the wardrobe and buy a better quality blower and a bigger scrubber. I made a diy scrubber/blower for 30 bucks that does the job of removing odor, but i wont settle for high temps or humidity in flowering.

I have a grow journal started here. Ill put up a link later (about to start work).

I too grow in a small space compared to most. The best thing I ever did was buy a coo tube and a separate inline fan to cool the light I know your using cfl so the same things can be applied add an extra fan solely for the lights. Next thing I did was take the temp gauge out ( I have had it back in there since removing it for a tester) I average now about 26c down from 34c.

Replacing household CFLs with the Cree LEDs at Home Depot will cut heat by about 30%. (Don't use the Cree "4Flow" plastic light. It has to be the heavier glass-globe A19, A21 and Par38. Be sure to rub off the rubber coating on the A19 and 21's globe. Dig a fingernail into it and rub it off like contact cement. You get about 10% more lumens.).

I would get rid of the 40w CFLs personally, I feel like they get a lot hotter and with a Y splitter you can use 2 23w for a bigger footprint and heat dissipation. I use 8x 23w in a small 18x24x24 closet box with an intake fan in the left wall at canopy/light height and another exhaust fan directly across in the right wall. I add one on the "floor" pointed straight up on hot days to get full circulation.
I would think a fan pointed up at the light would be a good thing for you to try, it's something I picked up from reading about vertical growing.

Finally, a thread that seems to be all helpful. Haha ;)

I was thinking about getting a couple LEDs, or making a few COB fixtures. I'm a bit confused about powering them (probably over thinking it), but its something I'm considering for the future.

Good note about 40w heat vs 23w. I have plenty of 23w lights here, if heat is still an issue, ill bust out some 23s and see how substantial the difference is. Better yet, ill just plan on comparing both for information.

Topped my plants today, and as soon as my soil arrives ill mix up my medium, transplant, tie down branches, and flip the lights to 12/12. Can't wait. Hoping to flip on Wednesday.

Even with my new pvc tent, it's 85-86 with x4 55w and x1 105w. Large intake holes I'm sure are letting precious light escape. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong but hopefully I can make small improvements over time to help get temp down. I wanted to add a lot more lights but judging by temp right now I can't see how that will be possible.
What are everyone elses Avg temps in flowering tent? Thanks

Do you have the tent near a radiator or hot water pipes under the floor I know I do in my space and have to have the heating off in the room next to it l, which isn't a problem even now in winter the heat from my exhaust fan warms the room up nicely!

You have 5 light fitting all hot as fuck in a enclosed space if you had 1 light fitting instead of 5 and 1 bulb you wouldn't be having these problems. If you went and spent some money on a E40 lamp fitting and reflector £15.00 for a lumii one and a 200w or 250w CFL for £35.00, don't get me wrong you'll still have a little heat coming off it but not as much as you have now when I was set up like that I was getting 26 or 27c directly under the light!
