CFL Hydro Rubbermaid Grow Journal: Attitude Special

Low Stress training, its just bending the plant to keep a low profile, and spread out lower plant canopy for better bud coverage.
yah I new It was some sort of training tech. just wasn't sure of the abreviation. I see you met cafeculture I told 'em to check you out

Honestly, my next grow I might go back to soil. It makes more sense for the rubbermaid chambers imo, cause you have more vertical space in the container, and you dont have to worry about pulling everyting out to change the res. I've been keeping a fairly extensive paper journal. This is isnt my *first* grow, just my first hydro grow haha.

I've considered running molassas, but... I've headrd bad things about root rot (something I dont want to deal with at all haha). I'm going to stuff at least 100 more watts of light in there tommorrow, hopefully 150-200, so I can start beefing up the lower nugs and take advantage of the LST for real.
I was reading back through the thread and it occured to me since you are woried about root rot and a way at the same timt to increase the O2 in the res for the roots try some H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) it will help in more ways than one. It's also good for warm res temps.

Well, I run a bit of H2O2, and my res is right on top of an AC vent (72 temp). Thats how I cool the whole box, by running AC through it. I'm kinda blazed right now. hahaha

alright, just swapped the res, running H2O and a little hydrogen peroxide. Judging by the condition of hte leaves (slightly nute burned) and the amount of dead foliage I pulled off (just the bottom stuff). I WILL have pics soon, I just cant upload from my comp, so I have to get my roomie to do it.

I did a good amount of additional bending today, and I trimmed off one lower branch... and I might try the "flowering clone" tek. maybe it will work.... hehe.

grow is going great. the water is really doing them some good, but they've been pulling up their hooks (need moar duct tape!). The white widow has put on maybe 3-4 inches in 3 days, but is still behind in flower production when compared to the other 2.

I WILL have pics I swear.... my roommate is just being lazy.

blehc, one of my drip tubes broke, spilled 3 gallons of water on the floor. Time to fill the rez, and take pics I guess!

Lots of pics. I also took a flowering clone of the chronic and put it in soil for later.

Lookin real nice. I can smell it from here.

They look like they might have too much N, though. They're pretty dark and burnt on some spots. What bloom nutes are you using?

I was running FF tiger bloom. This week we are only running water, in an attempt to flush it out. The plants took some underwatering damage last week when the pump broke, and I thought the WW and the Chronic were going to die. thats when the nute burn started to take a toll on them. We are going to scale back the nutes next week, when we swap the rez.

The smell is not too pervasive. we are not running any odor suppressors. by comparison, a dime bag stinks up a room more than the grow bin.

Maybe it's just the strain/grow medium, but my Skunk #1 plant has been stinking up my whole house for the past couple weeks, and I just threw her into flower a couple days ago.

overall the smell is somewhat minty/catnipish, with a *hint* of dank. The stickiness is ridic. bending them gets your hand covered in resin unintentionally.

man.... the plants are getting pretty big for ~ halfway through flowering.... I hope I can keep them tame enough to stay in the box. I should have flowered like 10 days earlier I think hahaha.

I'm also a bit worried about the Nitrogen burn. i've been flushin with water for about a week now... I just hope it doesnt hurt yeild and quality TOO much... =(

wow those are coming along nice good to see you have worked things out, judging by those pics how far along are they with just the flowering period those CFL's are great for tight nodes and bushy plants just ordered a Quantim Badboy t-5 8 bulb but I'm thinking of the 12 or 16 and dedicating a large closet to a straight brow and see what happens. The triphosperious bulbs are sweet and the mix of 6500k and 2700k are giving me ideas will document it even if it's with my phone befor i get the new camera. till them keep'em green -diesel

blehc, still battling ph issues. getting tired of this, and I probably wont run hydro on this scale ever again.

Hydro is pretty easy. The larger the reservoir the less susceptible it is to fluctuation in pH. Also if you aerate your res it will raise the pH for about a day till it levels off and is very stable. I've done 2 large grows and they've been hydro. I've actually never grown mj in soil before. Hydro to me is easy because I can test everything. I can measure the pH, EC, and temp. I wouldn't do bubbleponics or dwc personally though. There is a lot of room for equipment failure ruining your crops. I once had a fill pump fail - it would click over and sound like it was working only to not push any water. Would have had some packs on that one.

The easiest hydro method though just using straight perlite. If you want to research the method online google Hempy Buckets. I made a hempy table and had to stop the grow in its infancy because of legal pressure. Anyways I look forward to seeing your grow and chattin with you. Pz.
