Changed lighting from 24 hours to 18/6 and having strange results pls help

Hey. So I asked in a thread the other day about what was the optimal number of hours to keep my lights on during veg, and most people seemed to agree that it was 18 on, 6 off. I did this for the first time earlier today, but when i turned the lights back on, all of my plants had pistillate.

I thought this was only supposed to happen when they began to flower, though I could be wrong. The only thing I could think of was that I should've eased them into the new lighting schedule instead of just going from 24 hours to 18/6.

So what do you guys think, did I just accidentally put my babies into flower mode? If so, how much do you think this will set them back? Or is this somewhat normal? Any response/advice/etc would be greatly appreciated.

Can u post any pics bro. I switched from 18/6 to 24/0 with no issues but I'm sure if you would have dialed it back slowly they would have eased into the new schedule. Maybe they were shocked by the sudden change in theyre light schedule. How old are they?

The most likely thing is you created a problem when you adjusted the lighting. I haven't heard of going from 24/0 to 18/6 getting a plant to flower before, so I think its unlikely. Perhaps the plants have matured and begun to show preflowers? Unless its an auto then it could certainly be flowering, although that still wouldn't be caused by the switch but by age.

I think they are just showing pre flowers, no worries. Unless they are auto's, they aren't going to flower under 18/6.

Ok cool, phew, I was pretty worried for a second there. As far as I know they aren't auto flower, I was mostly just worried because it seemed like they went from having no pistillate at all to having like nice, semi crystally, one inch long pistillate in like 8 or 10 hours (The last time I looked at them closely was a few hours before I switched the lights). I'll post some pics in a second though just to make sure, thank you guys for the info.

Well plants getting 18/6 will preflowerf before p,ants under 24 so the dark probably. How old are they about 6 weeks?

The dark had somethin to do with it, it was the first night they've ever had it was probably intense. I'm sure there fine. pistils are good, better than nanners.

Few hours of darkness has been proven to be beneficial to the plants, indoor growing is to replicate the optimal conditions. where in nature is light going for 24 hours? Just my opinion though....
