Cool stuff man, hey can I ask whose LED lights those are? / what brand? I'm always looking for more good brands so I can refer people to those LED lights which don't suck. Also: it looks like those lights are 3 feet above the canopy, whats up with that? LED lights should be 12-18 inches above I believe.
the brand is stealth grow. i got them a while back and havent gotten around to using them yet. So my friend needed some lights one day, so I said fuck it and let him use mine..if they work out, i will switch over to LEDs on all my 36 sites..i have 6 total. i had got a nice lil package deal from a friend in LA. He used the lights over his aeroflos and had great results. so we'll see..im not skeptical..i see what theyre doing now, and there is potential, you just have to use different techniques.

the lights are higher because when they were lower the plants were growing kinda funky..when we raised them they took off. also the ppms seem to run a lil higher with LEDs. i dont know why it would do that, its just something we've noticed.

LED's were never designed to compete head on with HID's. They can be placed where HID's cannot be used for whatever reason- and there are lots of reasons why and HID cant be used.

Anyone who thinks LED can compete with HID watt for watt is drinking the cool-aid. They don't have the lumens or the light penetration into the foliage.

The time will come when LED will surpass HID, but its not here yet.
Everything else is advertising and marketing

Check out the links I provided, as long as you are not growing plants more then 3 feet tall a good LED is + watt for watt to a good HID. Yeah they don't have as much penetrating power, and that changes drastically depending on the lense angle of your leds (some companies go as low as 60 degrees others as high as 120), but its not like they have no penetration power.

Not only have I been drinking the cool aid the last 2 months, I've been reading about it, studying it, seeing how other people do with it. And yes, good LED panels are as good as HID (if not better) watt for watt as long as the plants are not too tall (I'd say more than 3 ft is getting too tall)
