Changing to LED, Optic 8+ questions

I don't mean to hate on the light at all, I'm sure it grows great plants. That being said, the Optic 8 is overpriced old tech just like Blackdog. Passively cooled lights have a much lower rate of failure. I'm not sure why companies think it's a good idea to enclose the drivers and rely on fans to cool everything. If your fans fail then you're screwed. There is a reason quality ballasts, drivers, and LED's are passively cooled using heatsinks.

You are much better off getting some COB's, QB 96's or Samsung strips which will be half the cost. If you do go with Optic, at least go with the Slim which utilizes strips of LM301H diodes.
And the guy that owns the company speaks with forked tongue, he does not design, build or anything just re-brand hes the middle man clipping the ticket on the way through the system- and yes I have owned optic/pioneer/super tech all the same lights under different names - still overpriced, power hungry with a 10 warranty that means nothing- you will update lights with in 2 years maybe and the old will be that old
