Considering your age, how can you know this? You're surrounded by religious sorts who'll tell you this (and you've shown your inclination to accept what they say as, uhm, gospel), but imo/ime you have a skewed perspective of what the early 80s were like. The nation's mores have perceptibly shifted right since then as far as i can tell. cn

i fear that in 20 years, bible thumping bigots will still try to keep two consenting adults from enjoying all the equal rights bestowed to a loving marriage.

consenting adults is a moot point. The definition of marriage is what is in question at this point. Now its going from man+woman to man+man. In 10 years whats gonna be the next change, man+daughter? If one group can change the definition of marriage why cant another group? Its all about equal rights, right? This is a very slippery slope. As a matter of fact, im watching a special on abc right now about a polygamous family trying to get acceptence and change the laws so that men can marry more than 1 woman. Im watching that RIGHT NOW. And you guys said it wouldnt happen... it already is. Do you know how many ppl have married animals in the last year? A lot.

I have to disagree. Murder rates, drug use rates, rape rates, all of that have only gone up.

I thought you were worried about incest, polygamy etc. succeeding in becoming accepted. The ABC example is someone trying and certainly failing. Are you telling me that the trying is to be feared? cn

Failing? In the past few years there have only been MORE polygamous families emerging. I would think they are succeeding. You should watch this. They are saying the exact same words that gays use. That ppl that dont accept polygamy are ignorant bigots and that polygamists deserve equal rights.
