That's actually a really good question. It's not just cloning you have to be concerned about. Moreover, it's the home environment of the particular strain you are dealing with. It starts with conception and replicating your particular strain you happen to be dealing with. In other words.. Which particular strain happens to have best results in what ever particular environment you happen to place them into..
You see, there is no cure all environment that we Americans can deal with in all our ingenuity for any one strain. But in our ingenuity, we can discover what is best..

I hope you don't mind if I post some pics of the clones I have recently cut Canna,
Its only two but there mainly just to test out how the strain reacts to being cloned (one with plain water and one with root tech) its a mystery strain that I got free from PO I guess they forgot to label it, but regardless of what strain it is I'm expecting something good.

Yah I know but i was just saying in general... a lot of people handle them too much and poke around in the cubes to see if they can see any roots which probably disrupts the rooting process.Not being impatient, just saying not roots yet

These are only $80 shipped and look just as good if not better than any of the other ones i've seen at less than half the price. Since I dont have any PVC cutters, or PVC Glue already I think building one having to buy those 2 things plus all the PVC pipe, elbows, t's, caps, valve, etc. I'm afraid I might end up spending over $80 all said and done and I'll have a home made jerry rigged set up instead of this nice plug & play one which will take less than 30 minutes to set up out of the box. No running around store to store either.

If you don't have the tools or supplies to build your own thats not a bad price for a cloner like that, especially compared to the cost of an EZ Cloner. The only thing i think it needs is an air pump, line and air stone to keep the water oxygenated. Without well oxygenated water a aero cloner can develop slime, bacteria or pathogens very quickly due to the extra warm rez temps caused by the water pump. If you don't want to add the air pump / air stone, adding about 3ml of 29% H2O2 every 3 days will work.

Looks like higher quality parts than the old "Ez cloner"... It wouldn't cost too much to build your own if you added an air pump/stone instead, with the cloner being relatively small the misters are unnecessary really because the (bursting of) bubbles provide a very, very fine mist. It's nice though if you have the $$ to spend and don't want to have to fool with modifications and such, but that's the fun part for me. I love building shit and watching it work (or fail, lol.) I made a nice carbon filter for really cheap (minus the costs of power tools, but I think those have paid for themselves by now.) The plastic looks thin on this cloner, almost like you would need to paint it to prevent algae growth. I build DWC boxes and even with the colored plastic I must paint them to prevent algae.

I think the misters themselves oxygenate the water but I, too, prefer a good air pump and stone. The bubbles make plenty-a-mist.

Yeah! That's so cool. I wouldn't use a transparent upper lid, though. I have a bunch of spare parts including two small spare pumps. Either one would be perfect for the low GPH requirement of such a tiny setup. I could just donate a pump and let you build the rest around it. The pump is the most expensive part.

Yea i see the pics with the shadow it does look a bit like light would be able to penetrate. A coat of black will for sure make it's way on there if I get one.
I'm thinking the PVC cutters and glue would be $30 minimum. That only leaves $50 for the rest of the build and at the end of the day it would probably cost about the same. I already have a gallon of H2O2 and extra air pumps, line, stones laying around so I could do one or both of the above.
Is that 3ml/Gal every 3 days?

I was thinking of maybe building a cloner myself just haven't decided yet I still have to get the whole hydro thing down and do some research before I jump into it.

Yes, 3ml of 29% H2O2 per gallon, every 3 days is what i use.

I never knew they could handle such a heavy dose. I give mine 2-3 drops per gallon every 2 or 3 days, it works fine though, hahaha. "If it isn't broke, then don't fix it..." I use the cheap 3% stuff anymore though, it gets the job done- I only use it to keep my rez smellin' like a clean swimming pool, lol.
