CLOSETGROWTH

CG,
Well done man these ladies look real nice. I've been growing for a little over a year. I've seen it all at this point and really learned a lot. As a matter of fact I'm learning more everyday. I feel like I'm at a point now where I can understand what the plants are telling me in terms of there needs. It's a great feeling looking back at where I was when I first started.
With my second grow ever, I tried a DWC system. I had heard and seen the great results it had given. Had some real issues with light penetrating the bucket, etc. Just some real newbie issues. I think I'm at a point where I'm going to give one plant a try this next grow. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind?
Being a soil guy and a follower of the School of Fox Farms I'm wondering about using it in my hydro unit. I found that when I did an initial reservoir change that the big bloom clouded the water and everything seemed mixed well. When I returned the next day that stuff just basically clumped up and clogged my air stones. Is this a normal thing for you as well? Also, how often are you checking your PH levels? Seemed like mine was out of wack every day. I was having to make PH adjustments daily to each plant. Kind of became a hassle compared to watering and training with soil.
Just my thoughts any knowledge you could share would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Shinedog
Very nice of you to drop by.
I use the full line of Fox Farms, with all the extras.. cha ching, beastie bloomz, open sesame.
I love the products! I grew the last batch of soil plants with the FF line, came out terrific, especially with the molasses I added.
As far as the light penetrating the buckets.. You need to find Black Buckets my friend. There all over.
Big Bloom does cloud the water.. totally normal, and yes, it does clump, and slightly clogs airstones. I have not had alot of trouble with it though, I wash my airstones each week in hot water, and its all good. Might wanna get a slightly larger airstone.. Thats what I did.
As far as ph is concerned..Its always around 6.0 no matter what. Maybe my water is perfected or something? I never had any problems with ph at anytime..And Im kinda surprised. I used to check it everyday..But, Lately Ive been slacking to once a week, because its ALWAYS the same.
If I were you, I would follow the Fox Farm feeding Schedule, and do Exactly what they tell you. Not more, Not less. Better yet, Buy a ppm meter.
Them folks at Fox Farms know that a good majority of there sales are to pot growers, so they made that cool schedule..And I follow it religiously.
Yea, Bubbler Buckets blows the doors off of Soil.. There is literally no comparison. And Im using the same exact nutes.
I have also experimented with aero.. Well not full blown, but I have one plant getting 15 minutes of nutes and 45 minutes of air time with a pump at the bottom of the bucket. Its kinda cool, But Im sticking with Dwc all the way next time.
The only problem I have at the moment is space. I have an entire bedroom specifically setup for growing and its getting crowded in there because of the unbelievable growth rate of hydro. I had no idea... I tried Hydro many years ago and failed. Never tried it again til Last month..and now Im hooked!!!
I did countless hours of research, and felt comfortable to get back into it. And Im succeeding quite well.
I would honestly tell you to get back into it. And once again... "FOLLOW THE FOX FARMS FEEDING CHART" or get a tri-mter/ppm meter.
I aint missing soil for a second. The nutes may cost a few bucks, But MAN the results are Priceless.
I actually see massive growth spurts each day. Growing is so much fun when you see "CHANGES" Good changes.
Thanks for stopping by, Hope to see you again. Any more questions, just ask. Thats what Im here for.
Your friend, CG
