Update on both flower tents, White Widow on the left and OG Kush on the right, the OG is a much smaller plant, it filled the screen nicely but I don't see it getting to the size of the WW. 3'x3' tents, each has a 320w power supply, the WW is at 300w and the OG is at 250w at the moment.

These will be the first of many 4 board fixtures for my grow. I will be starting a build log here in the next week or two to chronicle the entire process, and hopefully allow those with experience to spot any potential conflicts or incompatibilities that i may have missed.
I intend to build out all of the framing for the individual flower rooms (5), plus a larger vegging room and cloning area. There will be an airlock-ish room everyone and everything passes through to access anything else. Co2 individually controlled for each room, the whole nine yards.
Ill start with two or three online initially then build from there as harvests come in.

Unfortunantly I don't remember the exact day I planted the seeds, I'd guess around 8-9 weeks from sprout. The first picture below was taken May 20th, it's the front right plant. They were in #1's. This is the earliest picture I can find.
It was switched to 12/12 on June 26th, second photo is from June 25th.

Here's a shot from yesterday in the garden. 2 hlg600 a 600wcob build and 2 xgs190s in a 15x8 room about 7 days in 12/12

I've read this thread from the beginning to keep from asking redundant questions however some of the answers I'm looking for seemed to get lost in the debates along the way.
I have a 200 watt kit purchased from Timber last year and have been really happy with it in my 2x2. I'm looking to up my space into a 5x5 in order to better provide for myself and a few others. I was looking at a 900 watt kit at Timber but have since begun reading up on the QB 550 from hlg. This purchase will be a major investment towards our medicinal effort so I'm asking for a completely honest and unbiased opinion please.
I know what the advertisement says but for anyone with actual review experience with the 550, is this board really a legit replacement for a 1k SE bulb at half the wattage with a much lower electrical cost? Or am I reading into it incorrectly?
Are they easy to repair once the warranty runs out on them? I don't wanna get stuck with an expensive paper weight.
Unfortunately, my time schedule doesn't permit me to build one so I'd rather pay up front. Will it get the job done? Or would I be better off purchasing the 900 watt cob kit?

So you want to know if an hlg550 is as good as a 1000w hps and a 900w cob fixture. well for one Quantum boards IMO are worth every penny and there are alot of established grows on RIU to back that up. when it comes to ease of repair turning a screwdriver for a few screws on either a QB or Driver to replace if one should fail is not hard to figure out. and for the hlg550 robin or stephen are very good to work with and they reply within a day or 2 and very good at what they do.

Thank you for your replies! I'm really becoming more and more sold on the boards. I've no doubt that we all have endured the hype (and maybe disappointment) surrounding new light technology on this side of the house so as much as I like to believe in tech advancement, I'm always a bit leery about major purchases like this. Growing in a space as small as mine, I've never messed with anything outside of T5 and LED (started with cfl, lol). My old grow pro panels are probably 5-6 yrs old now and failing for parts. Customer service for them has always been less than desirable so it's absolutely imparative that we have good support. I travel alot and my better half tends everything when I'm gone. She'll have me sleeping with the plants if this turns out to be a bust, lol. I appreciate the feed back and I'll check around the site to visit some threads to see these lights in action. I think I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on purchase. Just gotta make sure the i's are dotted and t's are crossed.
Btw, according to the HLG site, the 550 has a flowering footprint of 4.5 x 4.5 so I'm thinking that I'll do what I've seen in a few pics here and add a few cobs on the outskirts at some point when finances allow it. Thats if it will even be necessary to do so.

You know I cant think of someone on here that uses the HLG550. There must be someone. But having used 2 of the 260w kits which can run up to 285w a piece, in my 4x4, I have to say the intensity is crazy. I couldn't see an issue running them in a 4.5x4.5 at all if I could. If HLG say the 550 is a 1000w hps replacement I believe them even though I haven't seen it first hand.
Wish I could point you to a grower using one, perhaps @robincnn or @Stephenj37826 can think of a user on here who has one. If not guys you should loan one to @NapalmD or someone who loves a good test unit. I know you have newer things in the pipeline but would be good to see it done. Maybe I just missed that thread? Easy done on here.

Thanks! I guess it would be nice to track down an actual 550 in work but I suppose if there are none, then any board grow will do. I just want to see how the tech works in any given space when correctly utilized and you all seem to be well versed. The pics of the various configurations I've seen in this thread are pretty impressive. Im not very savvy on all the calculations etc required for maximum usage so it's basic introduction, look and learn right now for me. I don't have a current journal here. I've been a member on another board (not sure of the rules here for mentioning other sites) and have kept a journal there for a few years but I don't update near as often as I used to due to lack of traffic there these days. Once I get up and running with this set up, I'll get one going as there seems to be a bigger crowd here for this subject. I've always stayed with one forum so I guess it's time I branch out to expand my base.
