i put her in the dark for 4 days and took her down tonight. it looks a mess since i took the stakes out and it all fell over.

P.S. How important do you think the dark period is?
hi JD, thanks for watching. i've done it 3 times now and i really can't see any difference. i keep trying just to experiment with different strains thinking i'll see something. maybe they are a little more swollen than when i put them in the dark but maybe they would have been that way anyway with 4 additional days. i don't know how anybody could objectively measure a difference. i know some people swear by this but i doubt if i'll do it again.

actually i should ask you JD! you have much more experience and a way more complicated set up than i do. all i've ever done is grow from seed in soil. i've never cloned anything or kept a mother or crossed anything. have you tried the dark period thing?

Well, my problem is that I keep changing everything...I am
only on my fifth serious crop, so I want to try different breeds
and techniques each grow.

Autos -> SOG -> SOG w/ new soil (gnatsaster) -> more Veg (the mothers) -> Now

I did also leave some plants in for a few days of dark, as I was
trimming and drying some faster finishers, and I loved the result,
but could not say whether the dark was the reason. (like you)

Carry on. You are doing good things. :0)

This is to make up for the techno video. :bigjoint:

Last plant other than the one i have growing outside. I put her sister in the dark yesterday. (Yes, I might as well do it since I'm in no hurry and I have the space.) I'm letting this one go a few more days. I'm liking this Nirvana royal flush plant. Her buds are filling out nicely.

Some of those tops are quite fat.

That will make for a nice yield for one plant.

Enjoy!

JD

P.S. Loved the song too. :0)

Thanks JD. Glad you liked the tune! I'm really liking this Nirvana Royal Flush. Thumbs up for sure. It's supposedly a hybrid with a landrace Oaxaca sativa from Mexico. When I was kid getting Oaxacan was a big deal because it was such good smoke. You can't see it in the video but It's very impressive. It's all covered in frosty white and smells like hash. The buds are swelling and really sticky. I'm giving it a few more days. I think it's been worth the long flower time. Hope it smokes as good as it looks!

Hope you grow is going well!

Congrats on completing the cycle!

Enjoy those crusty buds. It looks like you waiting long enough.

Thanks JD. It's not quite as dry and crinkly as it looks. Those fan leaves started curling up a long time ago. It's nice and sticky and smells wonderful.

I always shake out the dirt from the root system after I harvest just to see how it looks. This is the Royal Flush and it's huge and dense compared to the Cluster Bomb, WW and Liberty Haze. Not sure if that means anything really but it sure LOOKS more developed and healthy.

That is huge. The bucket gives perspective.

Good work.

JD
thanks JD. i think you are the only one watching and i appreciate it. i've done a lot of 5 gallon bucket grows and i think this is the biggest root ball out of all of them. that seems like a good thing!
