CITIZEN sample arrived today: looking great! Love the holes to fasten the chip directly onto the heatsink, without holder. Though rubber washers will be needed. Also, notice model reference and serial number: that's the way to do it cree...
No 52V driver yet, will have to wait another week to test it.

Good to see a thread on Citizen LED COB/LES chips. I will be testing the new Budmaster COB lights which use Citizen LED in a few weeks and would be happy to post a journal here for anyone interested to follow. The lights should arrive in the next 2 weeks and I will finish up my current grow which is about 1 1/2 weeks into 12/12 with the lights, and then doing another grow from clone so we can see morphological effects as well, and I will also do some PAR readings with the lights on video so we can see the details on how these chips perform in a pre-built led light. I'm excited as this will be my first grow without "blurple" lights. :)

I emailed my local distributor about more info a few days ago. Still waiting for an answer.
Yeah I wonder how efficient they will be. On budmaster website they claim citizen has highest efficacy of any other cob. Is this true or are those some more little white lies lol. I've looked into them some but I was under the impression cree is still king but tech changes rapidly.

I am curious about these 4k 056 Citizen cob;s....The 70CRI versions seem to have some serious output @ 120 watts and I calculate a total fixture build of $2/par watt for 117 watts at Retail costs [I don't get cool discounts :)], with Mechtronix active heatsink and Meanwell HBG-160, although the HLG 120 will suffice as well....

Considering a Tc of 25c....the "theoretical" lumen count is 167 lumens/watt....with an imaginary 325 LER for instance that is 51.3% efficient at 117 watts....[52v @ 2250mA] @ $.76/Par Watt

For the 85c TC @ 157 lum/watt, accounting for the same imaginary LER of 325....is still around 48% efficient @ 117 watts. and $.85 /Par Watt

I didn't see anywhere in these specifications any discussion of efficiency when driving the chip softly.
In reference to? the datasheet? ....and the only other thing I am personally aware of, was Supra's quick mentioning of some of the CL-056 chips efficiency @ lower current...Although I don't want to extrapolate any theory about the resultant lm/w...

High Tc measurement probably has some room to improve lumen per watt if current is less.[but that could be said of nearly 90% of all diodes....] What the exact #'s are though.... needs a 1st hand run to gleam some results :)

Is it just me or does that 4000k spectrum look like the best of both with no compromises?
I think 4k is usually a great compromise across a lot of different diode offerings, but I am not so quick to jump on the one size fits all category so quickly...

I still kinda stick with mixing out of curiosity rather than stubbornness....in fact, trying to put forth 8 sq ft of space dedicated to equal parts 3k/ 4k to flower with and see who like what :joint:

But the 4k alone has a valid argument imho......

A little wider spectrum encompassing more of the "green" especially lower in spectrum...along with a notch of reduced blue and seemingly equal "red" structure...maybe even a slight increase above 660nm than a 3k, but maybe also a loss of 630ish in comparison to the 3k as well......

If I were 4k alone, those are points I would definitely want noticed.
