coco , which I have not used for 1 year

1 year ago I had coco , which I watered 3-4 times. when the plant was 10 days old, I uprooted the plant and threw it away and put the media in a bag. he has been on the sidelines for 1 year. can I use it? do I need to wash it with water to use it?

It's probably fine but rinsing and buffering will avoid problems. Depends on how well it was rinsed before and whether it was properly buffered before. If so, then you are good to go. If not, then doing so now would be good.

What are you using for nutrients? I would think the base nutrient would provide what is needed since you will be feeding right out the gate.

If you do add cal/mag make sure to add just a little. If using tap water you should be fine without it.

Ok so using RO water I would bring the cal/mag up to 200ppm then top off with the nutrient solution to desired ppm.

So if shooting for say 700 ppm, start by adding cal/mag up to 200-250ppm. Then mix your grow/micro/bloom and add that up to desired ppm, in this example 700. Then test pH and adjust accordingly before watering solution in.

Honestly I'm pretty unscientific about it. I buy 35% H2O2 by the gallon, so will water it down to around 3% then pour enough in to disburse throughout the medium. I'll let it sit for a while and do it's job (sometimes overnight), then flush the media with tap water. Once it's flushed I'll do a precharge of nutes around 350ppm.

Quality coco comes washed and buffered these days. Regardless, new or used, I run nute solution threw it until run-off ec is reasonably close to the ec going in. Use the ec appropriate for stage of growth.

i'm growing automatic genetics. should I plant the seed directly in the big pot? should coco be dry when planting the seed? or should the whole pot be wet

I've been recycling the same coco for around a year now, I've only ever washed it with water then finish it with 0. 8 ec nutrient.

I know it's said you're not supposed to use water but I'd used water to rinse coco for ever before reading i shouldn't watering it, it's never showed any cause for concern.

I like to dry out my coco, pull out any roots, rinse it then charge it with standard nutes and you are off to the races. I may add some H2O2 in future I think thats a good idea, can always add bennies again if you wanted to.
