I am thinking to substitute colloidal silver for H2O2 in the res, not just to purify the mix, but hopefully allow the plants to absorb a little as a mold/fungus preventative. Has anyone out there tried this? I realize that this may kill off some beneficial bacteria in the substrate, but so does H2O2.

My thoughts,
Trying to keep a sterile res is most often a losing battle. It's much easier to simply populate the water with beneficial microbes which will displace, starve and attack harmful stuff, and let you forget about the problem of res temps. Properly maintained indoor operations shouldn't have any problem with mold/mildew, and there are plenty of easy and effective ways of dealing with it if it pops up.

Colloidal Silver is used for feminizing seeds,not keeping slime out of your Reservoir.It is a heavy metal and if it doesnt kill it it will make it a male with female DNA.Who suggested this to you?The application of 10 ppm of CS is sprayed on a flowering female to induce male flowers and it only take 1 or 2 applications.I would guess that if you put it in the res you will kill her/them.Peace

To the OP, recently I wanted to run an experiment to see how successful cloning without lights would be. People came out of the wood work to give their "expert" advice on why it wouldn't work. A week later when several of us had rooted clones all the experts (read people talking out of their asses) weren't there to say, "Whoops, I shouldn't have been speaking out of my ass" they just went on to the next thread to talk about shit they don't know.
