As many of you know commercial soil is already loaded with bugs and especially gnat eggs. I love my roots organic but, man that always are loaded with gnat eggs. I dont want to use chemicals or pesticides on my plants. A friend of mine uses a .5 layer of sand and that seems to work ok. I tried that crushed recycled glass to no avail. This round I'm trying something new. I have been reading that some people used Bounce dryer linen and place them to cover the pots of the plants. Apparently there is a chemical is the sheets that repel the gnats. If the sheets do not touch the soil and I remove them before feeding , I an hoping they will have no impact on my plants. I'll report my findings on this as it goes. At least my room will smell fresh and clean? Lol.
