Maybe you can help me with my old t470 i attempted to upgrade. I upgraded to the newest cpu i could find upgraded ram, and got rid of the old hd to a 1tb ssd.
I did remove the cmos battery while i was doing this... not sure if i shoulda done that. It boots and operates fine, but on boot i get a bios warning that the power supply is the incorrect voltage, and the date is way off. The power supply didnt change, and im not sure if the date even matters, but it is irritating.
the battery is there just to keep the mobo clock running when you're computer is off. removing it threw the date off, or it needs to be replaced. you should be able to reset the clock in the bios. if after resetting and rebooting multiple times it's sill incorrect, it probably needs to be replaced.

Ordered a new battery, and power adapter.
Hopefully it was just a coincidence that one or the other died at the same time as the upgrades..
Date is corrected and not changing, but now it is powering off as soon as the cd/dvd drive tries to read a disk.... really annoying

wth do you need a disk drive for in 2023? just kidding, but it sounds like maybe that drive is pooping the bed now.

I mean, yeah we'll barrel full steam ahead without a thought of ethical or moral consequences of our actions and we'll end up serving AI overlords. Yet you have to ask yourself, could they really do much worse at this point?

"Beginning May 17, 2023, the IRS will no longer support the use of existing IRS usernames to access e-Services. If you do not have an ID.me account, you must create a new account to access this service."
PA started using Id.me for unemployment. So I already have an account. Out of the 7 or so of us at work that signed up, 2 got hacked already. It's a fucking mess.
