For monts The MS browser EDGE has been broken. On boot up it hangs at a white screen for about 5 seconds and then shuts down..

There is no simple "repair" or download and reinstall of EDGE by it's self.

I've got it loaded but never use it. Chrome mostly, I use Firefox to access newspaper websites with paywalls. They have a add-on "Bypass Paywalls Clean" that does that, (mostly). Doesn't seem to work to well on Chrome. Also Vivaldi which I used to use but not so much unless a website is "problematic" and then I'll try it.

I'm running Win10 and banished that f'n spyware Edge to purgatory. Same with everything else Windblows uses to spy and track me. FireFox using Startpage as my search engine. ProtonVPN to further block my identity so none of those f'ers out there know who I am. Nice little free program called Win10Privacy to get at all the hidden settings in Windblows but you have to be careful with that one so you don't mess things up. They probably have a version for Win11 now but I'm not going there.

They are stopping support for Win10 after about 3 more years but updates for commercial versions will be around for 10 years and they can be manually added to home versions if you look for them just like I did for XP until a couple years ago. I've always had auto updates off and just check every now and then and can pick which ones to get as most aren't needed for home use. Just critical security updates and needed bug repairs.

Window$ has always sucked but if you know how to tweak it, it sucks less. Manually installed Quick Launch and Hibernate so it works like XP did and have no wifi on my desktop so no damn router slowly cooking my brain. I let the pot do that. :)

:peace:

If you happen to have or able to finagle a .edu email address, you used to be able and still looks like you can get software/programs at discount or for free. I know AutoCad and Adobe used to have free stuff.

I've used B&H before, service was good, a little pricey but nobody else had it in stock.. Micro Center has been around a long time. I've bought in their stores before but that was back in the 80's(!), nothing online. I'll at least create an account to get emails.
